Problem raising money????

I'd give him $5 just for being honest. I remember once several years ago when Mrs K and I were strolling in Berlin near the famous zoo and were approached by a not unattractive young woman who was clearly looking ill. In nearly pefect English (neither my wife or I speak German) she asked us for money. I asked her why she needed the cash and she looked my in the eye and said that she was a herion addict, had not fixed for three days, was "sick" and needed 50 DM (then about $25 US). I nodded and then gave her the money. She thanked me and then walked off at a rapid pace. "What did you do that for"? demanded Mrs K.. Plain and simple: That girl would end up getting the money somehow and would my wife prefer that she steal it, prostitute herself for it or simply take it from me as a gift? We never spoke of it again. 0 -
Yeah, I'll at least give him credit for being honest (assuming the pic is real).
Around here (and everywhere, I assume) we have a fair number of folks with the signs, "Will work for food", etc., etc. on the street corners. He hasn't done it in years now, but I remember as a young boy my father stopping and asking some if they would help us put up hay, at the times we were putting some up (back then it was all square bales as opposed to the round bales we put up nowdays). They'd just say, no thanks and walk on.
There was one that took him up on the offer once. Worked hard I seem to remember. Pops fed him, let him take a shower, and probably gave him some pocket money if I know my dad. He was grateful. He was/is definately in the minority as far as those folks go.
