went to the range today and took only three guns along,, the new little Beretta with the long barrel, never a malfunction, the sights leave a lot to be desired, but managed to keep the shots in a 6 inch circle at 20 yds.

The Smith 686, 2 1/2 inch .357, lotta bang, sorta accurate for that kind of gun,, nothing to brag about

The Smith K.22 masterpiece, model 17 shoots as pictured below,, 20 yds one hand, standing, Ifn I wasnt so old and shakey, I probably could hit the target.[:0]

... yep - I felt the same way about my '95 Cowboy ... until I bought the Guide GS ... and then a second ... I love them all! We have one of the Guides stashed at a neighbor's in Talkeetna and I'm slowly losing control of it - last I heard he had scoped it in the Fall. The one bad thing about Marlin lever Guns is that they are VERY addictive! ... you'll find it very hard to just own one (I've also got'em in .357 & .44Mag.)[:D]

LOL...Figured I will do some shooting and dial it in at 50 and 100 yards next time out when I don't have to tramp through the snow and I have some sandbags(at least ones that I can use) or a steady rest.

We like to keep our reloads light and only (mostly) use the 405gn'ers - J.F.N. (2000 fps / M.E. 3597 ft. lbs.)

    Buffalo Bore handles a pretty serious 430 gr. L.B.T.- L.F.N. - G.C. (1925 fps / M.E. 3537 ft. lbs.) It's a super-penetrator load - but there are so few elephants, anymore - hardly seems worth the trouble! [;)]

Thats good to hear and is what I was hoping for after the results I have seen so far. I have a box of Remington 300 gr, winchester 300 gr, and federal 300 gr. that I am going to try in the future. Figured I would use some of this lower pressure stuff for deer because it's cheaper and then try some Buffalo Bore or Garrett ammo on the bigger game. I'm already putting the money away for the stainless version now[:D]
