I am a big fan of the 41. IMHO, there is a difference in recoil. Trajectory is at least as good (or better) with the 41. However, you may need to be a reloader to realize the full potential of the 41 mag. Factory fodder for the 44 comes in all shapes and sizes. Not so with the 41. Therefore, the 44 user has more flexibility.

Essentially the 41 is the 44 less 15% of everything. Power, recoil, everything.

Some say the 41 splits the difference between the 357 and the 44 but the 41 is really closer to the 44 as the 41 is a true .410 and the 44 is actually .429 (but 43 Russian, 43 Special and 43 Magnum didn't sound right so they called it a 44) and not that much more.

There's nothing wrong with the 41 but anything a 41 can do the 44 can do 15% better. Plus, factory ammo is very pricey in 41 and bullet selection for reloading is more limited. Hasn't stopped me from owning a pair of 41s, though.

IME the 41 feels just a tad softer than the 44 in recoil. I'd guess about... oh, 15% or so less.

Obviously the .44 will have greater recoil

Not true - either can be loaded up or down, depending
for what it is that you want to use it for - target or
    hunting.

For hunting the .44 Mag. is more versatile and for target
shooting or plinking around I like them both - depending
    on the loads.

(LOL... got distracted and double tapped something![:D])

.41 has always been an overlooked caliber, i like it myself, i would say that only in diameter is bridges the gap between the .357 and .44 , power wise much closer to the .44

A little less recoil and tons of power.

Brother in law has a Desert Eagle in .41 mag. We'll be shooting it soon (when he finds some bullets). We'll have a SW 629/Desert Eagle comparison. I'll let you know.

Thanks for the input guys. Before going and buying something in a certain caliber, I do some research on all of the calibers around it(or that are comparable to it). I am looking at getting a single action revolver for deer, hog, and black bear hunting. The reason I was considering the .41 was because I have read some good articles about it and the cost is quite abit lower then a comparable model in .44. I do reload so that isn't a major concern either. I have a little time to decide so I will take my time and keep you guys updated.
