Scopes
Just kinda kickin around some ideas and wanted your guys and gals opinion on a good varmint scope. I was looking at the Nikon 4.5X14X40 Buckmasters scope and it seemed pretty decent for the price. Any input would be appreciated. I'm looking to get a varmint rifle in the spring and wanted a good piece of glass for the top.

I own redfields,burris, bushnell,springfield armory,millett,weatherby,simmons,and leupold.For hunting,Leupold is best for me. Great low light performance,won't lose zero. Try the vx-2 line. They have some really nice 40mm scopes in your price range. I put four nice bucks at the taxidermist last year with a VX-II 3x9x50 on a Win m70 and a VX-III 3.5x10x50 on a Rem 700, both in .270 win. cal.[:p] 0 -
Scopes range from 29 bucks to over 1,500. Asking that question is like asking what airplane is best.
If you are a target varmint hunter and have the coin get a nightforce.
If you are an average Joe Blow looking to put optics on his deer gun go buy a Burris Signature scope and put it into Burris Signature rings.
The warranty is FOREVER even if you buy it USED.
People saying junk like Bushnell and the walmart type scopes simply do not know what the hell they re talking about. There are some decent scopes available for about the same coin as Burris but the warranty is a real no BS we will fix it if broken with Burris.

Bushnell Elite 4200 series are NOT junk. I have several and they are awesome. I have hunted with Simmons scopes all of my life and had very good service from them. I now sell Bushnell, Leupold, Swarovski, Kahles, Nikon and so on. For the money in side by side tests that I let the customer do himself, the features, clarity, light transmission, bullet proof no bs forever warranty, the 4200 is the best for the money right now.0 -

for me it was trial and error, one of my friends said sightron so I bought one put it on a 243 its ok does what i want, someone said BSA it was junk, good for a 17hmr or 22 but a 300 win mag will shake the lenses right OUT of a BSA. My first one was a Tasco world class 50 bucks. and ya it was cheap but it was all i could afford, and it is still on my 300 win mag
i've had it 10 yrs shot 6 elk 4 deer. so for the money it was well worth it i shoot 3-4 shots out of it every yr. to check the scope before the hunt and in 10 yrs it has yet to need to be adjusted.
In MY Opinion, if im going to use it weekly/monthly and or for competition i'll might spend the money if its a once a yr thing and 1 can spend 50-100 bucks and get 3 to five yrs or better 10+ then I have made a hell of a purchase. I bought for my 204,223,22-250 a Simmon 's Whitetail Classic 6.5-20x50ao and they have been great, i shoot at least one of them if not all at least once a month and have no complaint's. and for 300 bucks i have 3 rifles all with good scopes on them. VS my 243 with a good 300 buck sightron on it.
