You should really take my word for it
That is to practice shooting and functioning your handgun with only your weak hand. And shoot until you can compently control the handgun and shoot it well. I hope you all will practice this until your good at it.Working the slide, hammer, decocker, dropping Mags and loading them with one hand. Of course practice this with a cold (Unloaded) gun, learn to be consistent. I'm sure they are many here who can but practice. And those of you who havent tried it do so, and see how hard it is.No cheating one hand and it should be you left or weak hand.

We were taught that in my NRA pistol training course, gosh, it has to be about 15 or so years ago now. 0 -
I practice this regularly! 0 -
We just had an IDPA stage that worked the "weak" hand. A couple of targets, a popper (to activate a couple of swinging hostages in front of the plate rack) then the plate rack. (11 rounds total)
Shoot it (one handed, no support) from the right side (if that is your strong side) of a barricade with the strong hand first. Not many problems here. Then reload your mags, get set, and do the same thing with the "weak" hand, from the "weak" side of the barricade.
I was somewhat surprised at how many people RAN OUT OF AMMO, without knocking down all the plates. This, from people that shoot all the time.
Good advise Nighthawk.
Most people don't do it enough.
P.S.
No, I didn't run out of ammo, but I took 12 rounds to shoot the stage.0 -
I have done similar to what Pickenup is speaking of,.........man do I have a long way to go, to equalize! 0 -
I've been alternating between my good hand and my weak hand for as far back as I can remember. It comes naturally. Joe 0 -
When I do, it feels like someone else is shooting the gun. 0 -
I never have practice shooting weak hand. Thanks for the advice.
Next time at the range, I'll give it a shot. (pun intended)0
