Anybody own one of these? Our local Academy store has them for $279.99. Seems like a heck of a deal. Opinions???

Got a quick look today at Marlins new bolt rifle for about 350.00 dollars it looks very interesting The one I seen is a press protype

Anyone been on Marlin's website lately? Appears that they are going to come out with a bolt action rifle called the XL7. From what I have heard, it is going to be chambered in standard calibers like the .270, 30-06, etc. and is suppose to be very affordable. Keep in mind that is just what I heard. Anyone else here any rumors on it?

I did a search and there werent any threads from this year. Does anyone have one? AS everyione knows I am looking at getting a bolt action and marlin is a good name Im looking at the marlin XL7, for my first bolt action rifle. here are the choices of cal. 243, 308, 270 win, and 30-06. Which would be a good cal for medium to big game like from deer to hogs to elk? thanks for the input. 0 -

Yep, but for some reason they are going to try it again. I personally think that they should concentrate their efforts on expanding their calibers of their lever rifles if they find it neccessary to come out with something new. I would buy a Marlin chambered in .375 Winchester in a heartbeat if they came out with one.

Marlin made some .375 Winchesters about the time Winchester brought out their 94 in that cal. They're rare but out there. Cabela's South of Mpls. had a used one a couple of years ago. Seen a guy carrying one in Wisconsin 10 years or so ago. 0 -

P.S.-you probably already know this but just in case:
-I'm pretty sure O'Connor was talking about the .375 H&H,
-the .375 Winchester is nearly identical to the old .38-55 but loaded to higher pressure and supposedly not interchangeable
in either direction.

Yep, I know. A .375 H&H brings a "little" more whallop then the good ole' Winchester.[;)] I am not really looking to buy a .375 Winchester, I have just always thought that one would be a good brush cartridge for the area I hunt in. However, I did not know that Marlin once cahmbered the .375 Winchester.
