sorry about your loss as well as your sons, sounds like a good plan, and well thought out, wish more people thought about thier heritage and possesions with as much feeling as you do, i am sure the world would be a better place if they did, some day your son will be old enough to really appreciate what your doing for him [8D][:D]

Good way to keep the memories alive.

Do you know much of the personal history of the guns?

I mean besides the easily-researched info on make and model, do you know where and how your son's Daddy aquired the different guns?

    Or which were his favorites?

That could lead to all kinds of wonderful conversations.

I know some. I didn't really share this hobby with him when he was alive. I wish I would of now, but can't change the past.
It's funny because the question of are some of these guns legal popped in my head when I first took them. I've come such a long ways out of igorance to find out, yes every gun is legal.
His favorite is an old Marlin 60. His first gun he brought with his own money when he was 10. It doesn't even shoot anymore. It's jammed. I plan to fix it when I learn more about it. I will get it to shoot again for him.
His first gun was a Stevens 20g. He got it when he was 8 or 9. I still have yet to find it. I know it's in the house. He had a thing about hiding guns.

It's a nice task you've taken upon yourself. I know of too many folks who would have dumped those guns in a heartbeat regardless of their individual history (the worst I EVER heard was a coworker giving away her grandfather's combat knife that he had carried during the battle of Iwo Jima because "she didn't want any weapons in the house"[xx(]).

Fortunately for you and your boy you were not such a person. Keep up the good work.

Sorry for your loss. I like your way of thinking.

I hope my wife does the same should something happen to me.

I got close to 60 in my collection and plan on giving them to my kids some day.
