    That's what I heard but then, I was in the Marines too, so you might want to talk to someone from the army, after they get done telling you how many times they had to rescue the Marines, you may be able to get the question in.

    I was in the Army, and I never heard the source of the K-Bar name, nor saved any Marines. [:)]

    I'm a Ka-Bar dealer. The name originated from a customer who wrote to them in 1898 when they were Union Cutlery Co. He was rather illiterate and wrote that he used his knife to "Kill a Bar" (bear). They started calling it the "Ka-Bar" and the name stuck.

    [8D]-I'm ex NAVY NUKE, they never gave us K-BARS, just these--
