BDJ Very glad you got them back sir! Now hope they stuck in jail for a long time!

Adjusting insurance losses for umpteen years, I saw MORE dummies that did not keep the serial numbers of their guns. Its just common sense to do what you did, but there are a helluva lot of people defiecient in that area!

Same goes for your household belongings. Take pics from every angle of EVERYTHING you own! Take pics of those two fondue sets on a closet shelf you got at the wedding shower, that have never been opened, everything. Open drawers, closets, everything. NO one has reciepts for things they bought years before, and have even forgot they own.

The insurance company will only pay for items you can PROVE you own, pics can get you all the money you deserve after a fire, tornado etc.
"Oh, I dont remember, or care" about those two fondue sets"...well, enough of those "forgotten" items you have pics of, can pay your deductible!...[;)]

    Excellent story, excellent thread!

GOAL sent me a "Personal Firearms Record Sheet" where you can write down all the info about each gun you own (and then keep it safe, like in a safe deposit box). I will start on it immediately!

    Thanks for sharing this story.
That is the best news I have read in a while with a happy ending for everyone except the punk head druggies.

Either I am just weird or somthing but I got emotional when I got to the part where your rifles were returned safely.

glad to hear it, i bet your stomach feels much better after all the churning going on, i wish that is how it would happen here in the gestapo state of ill, hell they would want to take the rest of mine, finger print me, and i would never see them again

my sister, and brother in law got into a bit of a fight once, someone called the police, they took all his guns, when he got them back they looked like they fell off the back of a pick up doing 70mph, yes they took them illegally that's why the judge ordered them to give them back

...If your at least from a certain age group, I think everybody has recieved a fondue set, that is NIB, 20 years later[:D]...I have NEVER known anyone that has ever used one of the damn things!

I think cheap people give them as gifts because they look like there is something good in the big box when they're wrapped...[;)]

[8D]-Yo BDJ-congrads and thank you for that great story--

--I can understand the officers feelings about the pleasure of seeing the owners JOY on his firearm return, it's pretty hard to duplicate that (feeling for both)--
