Woman Seriously Hurt In Pit Bull Attack
GIG HARBOR, Wash. -- Two pit bulls that entered a Gig Harbor home through a pet door attacked and severely injured a woman while she slept, sheriff's deputies told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News.
The dogs may have gone into the house to attack another dog, according to animal control officers. They attacked the woman in her bed as she tried to fight off the dogs.

Deputies said the woman got a gun and fired at the dogs, but the attack continued. She was eventually able to escape the house, get into her car and call 911.
According to deputies, after the pit bulls attacked the woman they went after a neighbor's Jack Russell terrier, killing it.
"They've had problems over there before a couple of houses down with the dogs. It's one of those things. We just hope Sue is OK," neighbor Ricky Russell said.
Pierce County animal control officers were able to capture the pit bulls.
"Highly aggressive, people aggressive, animal aggressive. They attacked a Jack Russell terrier out there and they attacked the lady pretty severely," Brian Boman, with animal control, said.
According to investigators, the dogs were determined and difficult to stop.
"We ended up having to pepper spray them an our deputies thought they might have to terminate the dogs out there, that's how vicious they were," Detective Ed Troyer said.
The woman is at St. Joseph's hospital and is listed in satisfactory condition, according to a hospital spokesman.
The victim is disabled. Her dog is a caretaker dog, according to a neighbor.

All dogs are they way they are because of their genes. When they are bred to achieve the qualities desired some of them also take on genictic qualities that are not really wanted, but thems the brakes. Some dogs are hyper, nippy, or agressive. Pit bulls are bred for what? Dog fighting?. Yes, some are nice. They are the exception to what they were bred for. Here there has been 10 that have caused big trouble. Most of those 10 have been destroyed and ONE pit bull was as gentle as a lamb. I knew the owners of 6 of the 10 and the owner of the good one. They were raised as soon as they could be taken from the mother, different mothers. One does not here about any other breed of dog being as viciousas as pit bulls. Not even pet wolves. As bred pit bulls should exterminated, as they have no real use except to attack without provocation. 0 -

Another bad pitbull topic. Any dog has the capability of attacking for no reason.Im not getting into another debate on this breed because I have had them all my life and had ZERO trouble from any of my dogs towards myself,my family or anyone else and none of my dogs have ever bitten anyone. I posted this once before and I'll post it again. A well trained dog,being petted and shown affection and guess what NOT A PITBULL and there is even less of a reason this dog should have attacked. The training this dog has no doubt received I guarantee wasnt in any way biting someones face for touching them and it was on t.v. to show how well they socialize and used to teach KIDS to stay off drugs!!!!.Hmmmmmm.

I have owned three Pit Bulls, and all of them were great loving pets that never bit a flea. One of my females did hate cats, and tried hard to rid the area where we lived of stray cats. I ended up having to put her down when she ate the neighbors cat. Dang thing was eating her dog food, and she didn't care for that.

The Smartest Dog I ever owned was a pit bull. He was one of the best squirrel treeing dogs that I have ever seen and he taught a hound we had how to hunt. My little girl would ride on his back and dress him up in clothes, One of the most gentle dogs I have ever seen. But if another dog growled at him the fight was on. All I had to do was yell at him and he would stop even if the other dog had a hold of him. After he died my daughter got a german shepherd, It's about as smart as a bucket of rocks sometimes but o.k.
