To decal or not to decal?
I recently attended a CCW class. One of the topics of discussion was the application of NRA and similar decals to our cars. The consensus was, having such decals, while driving through anti-gun states, could cause one to receive additional attention from Law enforcement if one were stopped for speeding and so forth. Other class members were concerned that parking one's car in a city, going out on the town and so forth, with such stickers/decals might be an indicator to others that you have a gun with you or in the car (here in Missouri, a 21 year old may maintain a concealed firearm in the car as long as they don't take it with them unless they have a CCW permit). I was wondering what you all thought about the wisdom of having such decals on your car. Thanks.

There are, unfortunately, too many rabid, foaming-at-the-mouth immature a-holes out there that see nothing wrong with vandalizing your car because of your opinions or beliefs. I'm not sure what you drive, but the wife and I drive late-model vehicles and we're not interested in having to repair damage that some people will cause.0 -
i've had a NRA decal one every vehicle i have ever owned (4 so far)
and from what I have noticed MOST people, don't pay well enough attention. MOST don't even notice one way or another. I personaly notice, but then again i would like to think im not as much of a sheeple as most. [:D]
And if they did notice, what are you worried about? you have a permit the cops can't do fooey! about it. "As long as your permit is reciprocal" as most are. and the anti-gunner's can't do anything about it either. If it get's violent/physical shoot thier A$$'s.0 -

Was recently at a car show and a bunch of cars (in the lot) got broken into, selectivly. the guy I was with had a browning logo in his rear window, and they got a pistol out of his glove box. I think logos make your car a target. 0 -
I've had various decals on my automobiles over the years... and have never had any trouble.
Bottom line is... I'm more worried about tail gaters and road rage, than I am smash and grab car thieves. You get $1,000 firearm theft insurance if you are an NRA member (so don't keep more than one thousand dollars worth of guns in your car, simple).
I got pulled over once for slowly driving past a school bus (on the other side of the street) that had its stop sign up. The cop didn't ticket me and let me go with a warning... and I had some pretty inflammatory stickers at the time. All he asked for was my driver's license, he didn't even ask to see my registration.
I rarely drive out of my home state... but even if I did; if you are in compliance with the law, there's nothing they can do to you other than give you a hard time or charge you the maximum amount for the ticket (as opposed to the minimum). Unless they are a rogue cop...0 -
I don't ever put any bumper stickers on my cars. I will put small window stickers on my cars. It's usually a small "Proud supporter of the (insert local fraternal law enforcement agency)" sticker. [;)] Hey... It can't hurt! 0 -

Yeah, but have you seen the population of Denver and Boulder? That could get pricey.

So, it is merely waiting for you to go somewhere and do whatever someone else pleases to your property in your absence.0 -
Really, if you are that concerned about it, just use magnets like I do nowadays. They come off in literally 1 second. They stick to any ferrous metal surface. So put them on for when you drive, then take them off when you park. Very simple, and doesn't take but seconds of your time.
I did have some concerns such as the ones people have mentioned, so that's why I went this route. But if there were no magnets available, I would use stickers.

I'm more concerned with someone seeing the NRA sticker on my car, following me home to see where I live, and then coming back to clear out my house when I'm not there.

bad ideal to display one on your vehicle in the city, grd don't you live in the country?
if some a hole saw the sticker, and then accused you of displaying a firearms, guess whats going to happen?
and the 911 is just plain crazy, it could really ruin you even in a justifiable shooting, proving your eagerness to shoot someone
edit: think of your region, some places you may invite trouble, while it may amount to nothing, i myself don't have the time to waste0 -
