Most Awsome Piece of American Military Hardwaren ?
Personally I like the AC-130 gunship and the Apache helicopters. Normally I would like to say one of our awsome airplanes that carry sick bombs but our politicians are too afraid to use them. The AC-130 is one big can of whoop a.s.s though

I'll second that!0 -
I have to say the BUFF. 0 -
Was recently watching the History channel or maybe the Military channel, and they were showing off the new 155MM automatic artillery piece. It can lob 5 shells in the air to have all impact at the same time. Don't really remember what they called it or the exact caliber but it is pretty awsome. Now the nuke sub is pretty potent, but we just can't shoot nukes every day like we can the cannons. Talk about shoot n scoot, five in the air and they are gone!! Tom 0 -
It is and always will be the American G.I. in the weeds with whatever weapon he is carrying! 0 -

Ohio-Class. My uncle was the COB of the USS West Virginia out of King's Bay, Georgia when he retired. He showed me the boat in Dec. 2000 right after it came back from a 3 month tour and a 3 day Tiger Cruise. Probably the last Tiger Cruise in the Navy before 9/11 happened.0 -

I'll definatly +1 that one. Infantry leads the way! HOOAH!0 -
That would be "RANGERS lead the way".

Rangers lead the way, and Rangers are Infantry, therfor the Infantry leads the way. Rangers are usually a-holes in today's army, anyway, and are only held in awe by those who are ignorant.0 -

F-12Aurora
The F-12, more correctly YF-12, was an early interceptor version of the Blackbird. The Aurora is a fictitious bomber prototype.0 -
Not F-12. It never went beyond prototype and was designated the YF-12A. Later reconfigured as the SR71. There is one parked about 15 miles from me.

A-10. Under-budget, on-time, and performs as advertised![:D]

The Germans have one that can do the same with six. The PzH 2000 can fire upwards of thirteen shells per minute (just rapid-fire area saturation, not simultaneous-impact fire).0 -
OK, I'll be the first one to say it. Any U. S. Aircraft Carrier. Take your pick. 0 -

Concur. Birdfarms are the ultimate projection of power, strategic or tactical, over land, sea, or air.0 -
Y'all got it wrong! The M1 tank is the most awesome piece of american military hardware!! While the infantry might be the, "Queens," of the battlefield the M1 tank is clearly the KING! [:D][:D][:D]

Having spent three years on one, I'd have to say they get my vote.
Other than that, how about a shout-out for the American Taxpayer, who funds all of the above?0 -

Wasn't going to be the first to say it...easy to idolize something when you've never seen it first hand.
RRD, on the other hand, were a completely different cut of cloth.0 -
Depends on what you need to get done. The old joke was that the ultimate weapon was a Ranger with a Neutron Hand Grenade. [:p] Carriers and Boomers impress the daylights out of me. The M-1 Abrams is great (if you are not in a swamp) The forerunner to the AC-130 (Spooky) has saved my butt on one occassion, and nape delivered by a fast mover has GOT to impress you- so does the A-10 shooting bullets the size of a Coke bottle. B-52 Arc Light missions, and the MLRS can turn zip codes into instant swimming pools. The one weapon that always scared the pants offa me, tho, was a weird little recoiless rifle known as the Davy Crockett! 0 -
