How did you live 2007? Anything new?
My 2007 summary:
Money wise:
My mom paid my truck off!!!!!![:)][:)] I brought a new house, which I love!!!![:D][:D][:D]
I haven't sold my old house. Which I also love. But good news is I may have someone renting it soon, so I may not have to sell it.
Family wise:
My son has hit his terriable two's (even though he's 3.5) he's very hard to control and doesn't listen to me anymore. In fact last night he hurt his toe climbing a fence, I told him not to climb just 30 seconds before.
After his mommy put a bandaid on it and made it all better he got a time out and sent to bed. He's wore the carpet down in his time out spot this year.
My step mom told me that she wished her own kids were more like me[:)] She said I seem to have my act together, especially for being so young.
Gun wise:
I brought a couple new guns a 357 sig Glock and a 9mm Derringer. I also brought some parts for an AR built. I got a Remington Wingmaster for Christmas (I plan to use this for skeet shooting). This year I've done alot of shooting and have really grown to love the hobby of gun ownership. I look forward to learning and shooting even more in 2008.
Love wise:
Still miss my son's dad really bad. Losing him still hurts very much. This August will be 4 years. I just try not to think about any more and keep myself busy.
I broke up with my BF this year. I haven't replaced him yet, but I've been dating someone and it could go somewhere. 2008 should tell.
Heath wise:
I told myself I was going to get in the best shape of my life in 2006 and this year I did. One of the things I wanted to do was add more upper body strength. I'm wanted to compete in some triathlons, but have always been a weak kayaker/canoer. With a stronger upper body I did a lot better in kayaking and canoeing (still need work though). I did do very well in my all Dino events this year and I entered in more of them than last year so I can't complain.
For 2008.
I hope to get my son in ready for school. I've been getting him more educational toy/games and have been working with him on ABC's, color, etc. He's doing very well, He's very smart.
I hope to do more boating than last summer. I also plan to jet ski a lot more. I'm almost done with my Seadoo sleeper. I figure it's pushing around 200 hp now.
My faith has been loss over the past 3.5 years. I think 2008 I'm either going to built my faith back or lose it completely. When you seen a child crying and digging at her father's grave yelling at him to wake up, you have a hard time believing.
So 2007 had it's up's and down's, but was an overall good year. I hope it was for all of you. I know that some of us have had our differences on GB, but your still my second family and I hope the best for everyone here.
I really like to hear how 2007 turned out for all of you.

Pretty much the same as 2006. Only real change was that my employer changed, even tho I'm still at the same job. Got laid off and hired, all at the same time.
Got screwed out of all previous senority and acquired vacation benefits (3 wks).
But did get a substancial raise.0 -
At the beginning of 2007 my divorce was finalized, and I'd finally gotten used to where light switches and such were in the house I'd been renting since my ex politely informed me I needed to make other living arrangements, in the latter days of September 2006. I was still sick to my stomach for days on end because, while my faith was strong that things would work out, the simple math said I didn't make enough money to pay my bills and buy food, and additional sources of income were in short supply.
Today I put in an offer on a house, with my bank's enthusiastic blessing. My dogs have stopped feeling the need to "mark" the house we're living in (same rental) and I can walk from the shop to the house in pitch-dark without stepping in any of the ankle-deep pools left in the back yard when it rains. I have peace of mind like never before in my life, and just barely enough financial stability that, in addition to making an offer on a house, I can pay attention to bigger and better things in life than just myself. I'm surrounded by people who express sympathy for what they imagine to have been one of the worst years of my life, when I'm looking it over with the benefit of hindsight and faith and seeing that, in most of the ways that count, it may have been the best -- ever.
Bring on '08. I hope all here can, each in their own way, look forward with such confidence and hope.0 -
2007: the fourth year of my early retirement - saw us getting into cash flow problems, what with a New Rear Axle for the 4X4 ($2500), First Root Canal ($2000), and the biggie - new Knee for the Wife - our share is over $5000, but bill was over $80,000, and counting.
Don't know how much longer the Wife will be able to walk, so gonna have to make our last rounds of travel in the next few years. Favoring her new Knee, she broke all the bones in her other foot, and they can't cast or repair them.
Daughter has visited us twice for two weeks - each time that was wonderful. She goes off to Iraq next month. Just turned 22.
Faithful Labrador is aging more quickly now - is going blind, and is getting deaf, too. Was a great buddy for the Daughter since Daughter's Ninth Brithday.
Seems like we just can't get things done, like we used to when we were younger - get one chore a day done now, not many.
Yard is getting away from me, will have to hire help in years to come.
Seems all bad when I look at what I have written above, but there are many good things that have happened also. The best is the visits by my increasingly capable and self-assured Daughter.
Gonna be able to go to our condo in Kauai, just made reservations using our points - looks like air travel will be free!
Then we are gona sell it, as we have had it for fifteen years, and could use the money for other travel/bills.
Have found that we can cook for ourselves, really gourmet food, and have it cheaper than going out. Have been having fun learning and cooking Gourmet.
Investments are doing well - it looks like we will not be able to outlive what we have stored up, if only I could get my hands on it!!!
Only three and a half years to go till I can. Darn Gov't regulations!!

The cat turned up missing a few weeks back and I hope and pray he did not eat it.

My second penile reduction surgery went super well, and I no longer require support underwear, a major savings. I also became completely tactical; I outfitted every gun I own with vertical foregrip and laser sighting, and I bought a beret. 0 -

Exactly! Imagine having to spend your days folded in corrective kevlar underwear and always waiting for the lower urinal in the men's room. My back problems are all but gone now, and I can sit in the bathtub without displacing water over the side. It's a new lease on life, really.0 -
[:D]2007 for me was pretty good. I retired from the Air Natl. Guard in July after 20 years, bought a bass boat and new travel trailer. As far as gun's go I bought a Taurus PT140 and a Para Ordinance 1911 LTC. Spent a lot of time fishing and camping and not as much time shooting. 9 year old is doing better in school and want's to try out for the cheerleading team next. She's on the dance team this year. That's about it.
CGR- My daughter didn't hit the terrible two's until she was about your son's age (3 1/2). It's been pure hell ever since. Doesn't listen. Doesn't listen. Doesn't listen. She's tried to sass me a time or two but a after a few good spanking's she's learned not to talk back and be disrespectful. She still doesn't listen. She's just like me.[:D]0 -
2007 was good for me over all. My Dear Old Dad passing away last March was pretty bad. In fact I really miss him.
But other than that 07 was a very good year. 2008 I'm believing will be even better.0 -
2007 balanced out ok for us.
Made it through another year in the AF...probably my last full year in and made it back from another hole in the armpit of the world
Reached 24 years with the only woman who can put up with me [:D]
Got our girlfriend through her divorce from a grade A asshat
Spent some time together away from work finally for a couple of weeks
Lost my dad late summer...but not totally unexpected...but still hurt none the less
Bought a few guns...traded a few...got a young boy into shooting with us
Got both of us new Silverados...OUCH!!!
Recognized by ACC for all the work I did to implement new programs in our dental clinic and on the base
We passed our Health Services Inspection with an OUTSTANDING (97 out of a possible 100) and became the first clinic accredited by the AAAHC board.
For 2008:
Most likely will retire on 1 Sep after 26 years of active duty in the AF
Will hit 45...wow...never thought I would make it [:p]
Will get to move back home and finally spend lots of time with my mom and brothers...can we say hunting and fishing much more often????

Wow Traci...definitely some inspiration in there. I understand the loss of faith thing. It's hard to say "God's Will Be Done" and "He Works In Mysterious Ways" at every turn, no matter how bad.
Hope 2008 is a great year for you. You sound like you're due for some. Just remember: owning guns is NOT a "hobby". It's either a disease (leftwingers), natural God-given right (2nd Amendment 'Fanatics') or a 'way of life' (me).

A good year for us, did some more work to the house. Bought a new truck and motorcycle. Picked up a couple new toys. Money seems to flow well, although my 401k didn't do to wonderfully this year.
Wife and I have been getting along wonderfully. Seems like we've reached a whole new level. It's just like we were meant for each other. I see August is a bad month for you, but a good one for us. This next August (9th) will be our 5th anniversary. Maybe time for a kid?0 -

2007 was very good to me all around. Best of all, God granted me a little boy. He is the best thing that ever happened to me.
Sure did get alot of guns this year. Between trading and buying,I think the number is around 15 or so. Bought a quite a few knives also(another hobby of mine).

Still struggling after loosing a great job, house, wife's new vehicle, bass boat, all guns, everything we owned during hurricane katrina in slidell, la.
Mentally, just can't keep it together, on my 4th job this year, was at the job before katrina for 15 years.

Considering what I see what other people have lost, I consider myself
blessed and lucky to have survived Katrina and the aftermath even
after 2 1/2 years the storm is still affecting people. '07 was
good in that I'm still here, have a roof over my head, my love ones
and friends are all still here, food in my gut and a good wife to
cook it (ok most of the time a good wife). Everything else is gravy.0 -
2007 was very good and am blessed to still have good health and able to do the things I like best.

2007 was a better year for me. I finally settled with the VA. The wife was able to quit her second job. I was able to afford a Polaris Ranger to help me get around my place to tinker. The wife and I celebrated our 28th year of marriage. And finally our son has grown up and started to be responsible enough to get his kids back during the week. My wife and I were full time Grandpa and Grandma. I love my grandkids to death, but it's hard to raise a second family. I think and hope 2008 will be even better. We need new vehicles. 0 -
