Get two pictures, go to a Post Office that has a passport office, as not all of them are so equipped.
I got mine renewed this year, spent the extra for quick processing, and received the new passport within 10 days. Total bill was, if memory serves, under $100.00 and it included the passport renewal, expedite fee, and Express Mail both ways.
The passport lady told me that without the expedited processing, a basic renewal can takes weeks and even months.0 -
Thank you.
I snuck(sneaked??) onto their site and found it amazingly informative.

In your case it's probably worth the extra few bucks to expedite it. 0 -
You might want to pay the extra money as Don has noted, Doug. My son said that if you have your photos and paperwork along with an airline ticket in hand showing the date of departure and/or your itinerary when you visit a "passport office", that you can pay an expedited service fee, (like what Don mentioned, I guess), and you should be able to get the passport on the same day or the next. He also said that you could have a travel agent work up a Courtesy Airline Reservation Hold for you, and then have them give you an itinerary that you could show the passport people if you do not have the ticket. 0 -

It was my first item on my "to do" list. Without the passport, everything else is moot.
Next is figuring out what paperwork I need to get my M-60 over there, and my suppressed High Power.
