I don't think I have the patience to raise a puppy alone. The last time I got one I had 3 kids living in the house to play with him.

If I ever get the back yard fence project finished I'll probably look for a dog at the shelter.

    IT'S A BABY SPRINGER SPANIEL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, I know what you mean. My springer (Sam) is 17 months now, he's been more work than I ever remember... it had been 12 years since I had to raise a pup before.

He is just now starting to "grow up" and understand that the world is not his chew toy.

I don't know if I have been lucky, but neither Barney or Daisy have chewed anything other then rawhides & their toys, I did catch Daisy once chewing on one of the kitchen chair legs, I wiped a little franks red hot on it (the chair leg) and she stopped.

Molly, 3 mos, is chewing on one of the legs of my wooden computer chair as I type this....I am slowly listing to the east. [:0][:0]
Lab pups believe everything is a chew toy, I guess.....

Luckily, they usually grow out of that phase. We bought a lot of "chew toys" to keep our beagle preoccupied when he was a pup.

From my expeience Iv found that raising a new pup seems to allot easier when they have a good inteligent well trained older dog around, or several. My last lab was easy to train, I think she responded and learnd allot faster haveing the other two already trained labs to work with.

When I was a kid we sort of house sat and took care of a springer that looked allot like your brown one there in the photo.
What a great dog he was, springers are really great.

Good luck with your new pup.
