What Kind Of Brake Pads Are These?

My own bobski mystry thing.
I have a box of Braks pads and am about to toss them in the garbage. Are they worth finding a use for or garbage fodder.
They are about 8" by 4.5"

    It appears to me that they are Raybestos Hycos Brake Block #4299D Type MF made in Bridgeport Connecticut by the Raybestos Division. [;)][:D][:o)][:D]

    Raybestos Brake Pads

    Tough ceramic materials are the typical materials that the Raybestos Brake Pads is made of. Due to its high grade quality, this product can completely collide with the rotor and generate enough friction to be converted to heat. The generated heat from the collision will serve and aid to facilitate the stopping motion of the vehicle. Since heat is generated when braking, this product is completed with ample heat resistance. However, in time, the brake pads can also get damaged. Most of the time, brake pad wearing occurs when it's not thick enough to handle the rotors. Squealing and grinding sound will be heard as you press on the brake pedal. Hence mounting of new pair of brake pads will be required. To make sure that you get high quality brake pads, look for the Raybestos brand. Take note, longer use of worn out brake pads will cause further damage to your vehicle's braking system. Sooner or later variation in braking could occur and could lead to more serious problems.

    MVP..call your local NAPA store and read them the number on the paper tag..they can cross reference it for you I'm sure..Loko [:D]

    at that size I would suspect that they are replacement pad for a commercial vehicle, tractor trailer. Did they come with rivits in the box ? Just noticed the printing on the edge, primary would indicate the leading shoe. Now I'm sure they were from commercial vehicles but don't know if they are still in use but yours are probably old and have an overabundance of asbestos.

    They are "BRAKE-SHOE LINERS" Used to "remanufacture" break shoes....U'r welcome [:D]

    They are old.
    They were my Grandfathers and I am cleaning some stuff out.
    They are so old I can see spider skeletons in the box illuminated by my flash. I couldn't see them down there until I took the pic.

    Everytime I go to throw something like this away I think to myself, "There is someone somwhere restoring an old rig, like a firetruck, and would love to have these"

    I would abstain from chewing on them, Raybestos rings a little toxic.

    Based on the size of them I would suspect they are for the fat carts at walmart. The cart are used by obese ladies too huge to walk the isles to get the Tyson fast frozen fried chicken and ice cream.

    Yes, I've seen those carts myself. The latest with two air bags per wheel with HWH automatic leveling, which comes in handy for leaning to one side or reaching up or down plus enhanced ease of entry and exit.

    Ditto on what Jeff said.
    Used on semi truck brake shoes. It use to be common and less expensive for truckers to rebuild them rather than buy complete shoes. Especially in off road coal hauling where a set would not last long in the conditions they were put through.

    First photo tells that set was manufactured in Feb. 1983.
