Federal Spitfire.22 LR
Does anybody else use these, what are your results. I used 50 of them out of the 50, 75% were bad rounds.

Yup, its junk. Federal has really dropped the quality on its rimfire. Everything I've shot from them recently, I'm guessing since they repackaged everything in the new boxes, has been less than desireable. I actually got hold of some older gold medal, and compaired it to the new stuff. In all honesty, I can't tell the difference between the new stuff and anything else you would buy off the shelf. But the older 711B groups like no tomarrow out of any gun I put it thru.
I stopped buying federal ammunition. I used to be an avid federal shooter too, thats all I would buy. I swapped to black hills, winchester, and eley.0 -

I have a few boxes of Federal Gold, Target and Match- it's a few years old and I'm pleased with it- sounds like I better not figure on replacing it.[:(] 0 -
I have some Federal Spitfire that I got in the late 80's. It came in a bright orange "Skoal" style can. It has shot just fine for me although I have mostly used it for jackrabbits and not target shooting. 0 -
From what I've heard, I guess it's just their new stuff. Most agree that their older stuff was great. Interesting how the quality of a companies product can change so much over time. 0 -
Federal is 'outsourceing' to have some calibers made in other countries. Look at their .45acp ammo that is made in the czech republic.
Dont know if that where the quality issue is from; however if is made by the same people as seller and bellot(sp?), then I think it would be higher quality than that.
Dont know about .22lr ammo, but their gold medal .308hpbtm, and hydroshock ammo is still good.0
