NASHVILLE ?_" In a surprise move, a House panel voted today to repeal a state law that forbids the carrying of handguns on property and buildings owned by state, county and city governments ?_" including parks and playgrounds.
"I think the recent Virginia disaster ?_" or catastrophe or nightmare or whatever you want to call it ?_" has woken up a lot of people to the need for having guns available to law-abiding citizens," said Rep. Frank Niceley, R-Strawberry Plains. "I hope that is what this vote reflects."

Reasons like this are, I think, how the South "will rise again". I have a feeling that southern conservatives are going to end up saving this country from the Kalicrapia ice cream liberals.0 -
What's an ice-cream liberal? I love ice-cream. I'm not liberal. 0 -
So if Tennessee is so dang fine hows come it spawned Al Gore?[}:)] 0 -

I don't know about that......seems to me that putting a little ice cream on that "special area" would likely result in me getting kicked in the face [B)]0 -
Back on point.....Tennesee is doing us all a great service. Things tend to "snowball" in politics, this might lead to big changes 0 -

They had enough sense to note vote for him.
His own state made sure he did not become president; They went with Bush!!!.
Sounds like they have repeated their common sense to me!

It does not surprise me that Tennessee would do this, nor am I surprised that it would come from a representative of the Strawberry Plains area which was made by Adam Meeks, and settled by other early pioneers.
When Adam moved to this area in the 1770s, there were no settlers west of his place. Many of the families who did eventually make their home there played a vital role in the American Revolution. Some fought against the British at the Battle of King's Mountain as members of the famed Overmountain Men. Their success at defeating the British was such that it caused Thomas Jefferson to say, "It was the joyful annunciation of that turn of the tide of success which terminated the Revolutionary War, with the seal of our independence."
Those Tennessee folks have quite a history.0 -

Guys..I live in Tennessee, my family has been here for life.
Al Gore is NOT a Tennessean. His family once upon a time came from here...LONG ago. Al pretends to be an ex tobacco farmer. He farms like I suffer from PMS. His whole life he has lived in DC, where his daddy lived and was born, where his grand dad lived. They were politicians for a hundred years, and Tennessee would rather forget they exist.
Tennessee has always been a fine state. Our heritage has always included guns and self reliance. Every representive we have, both state and federal, are on the side of gun owners. I've talked to them all, and I've seen it over a 68 year lifetime.
It has always been, it will always be. If our state was all we had to worry about, we could sit back and take a nap.
I'm very proud of Tennessee..There are very few, if any..like it.
Al Fricking Gore has nothing to do with us. You have my word.0 -
One more little note for MT357...Ya can't eliminate waste without an AH.... 0 -

I believe that Gore, Clinton, Kerry,Kennedy, and many others all came from a state that is not included in our 50 states here. Where that is, only they will know in their own little dream world.
May God richly bless them there Tennessee folks!0 -
