New Duramax
Finally broke down and bought a new Duramax. Only thing I don't like is the mileage. But it doesn't have but 250 miles on it yet, so maybe it will get better. I was also told I could change a chip and it would add about 6 mpg. Does anybody know where to purchase the chip?

Don't mess with the computer, it will void the warranty.
The mileage will increase after 40,000 miles.
Have a little faith. You will love the power and the mileage.
I know. I have one and it is a pleasure to drive.0 -
i dont know about diesel but most vehicles do take some time to break in. Usually at least 5,000 miles. As for the chip, it might void the warranty, but check with the dealer they might have a authorized chip. otheriwise its not smart to void a warranty 0 -
A good friend has one and complained about the milage until he had about 5000 miles on it and now he is a happy Duramax owner.... A trip to Virgina averaged close to 17 mpg.
A friend in Ohio has a Cummings turbo in a big Dodge that will get over 20mpg on a trip, but it has over 200,000 on it so I guess you could call it very broke in ...0 -

Not true.
If you chip it and you have a problem, such as a melted turbo because you ran it too hard, well then GM might deny warranty. When mine was still under warranty, I would remove the chip before taking it in for anything, never a problem. Service manager knew I had the chip and even asked to drive it to see how it ran with it.
Your mileage will increase when you get a few miles on it.
A chip will not increase your mileage by 6 mpg. It willincrease your fun factor by that and more. Almost like having a 4wd Corvette.
Look on the web and you'll see there are a lot of them out there, pick one and go for it, you will like it. Best $350 I ever spent. 96 hp for $350 and 3 minutes to put it in, good deal.
I have a Super Chip.0 -

Now why do you all want them big ole gas hog trucks when you can buy a Kia Reo and get 30+ mpg and make Al Gore happy. Remember you must try to reduce your carbon footprint like he does.[;)][;)] 0 -
I can now get B20....been able to get B5 ....I have a 2000 ford with 7.3
and checked the mpg today with the B 20 and got 16.8 ....thats pretty hard driving which i always do anyways... with straight diesel lucky to get 14 mpg
B20= 20% soy diesel which is 4 cents a gal cheaper than straight diesel where i buy fuel[8D]0 -
