I'm going hunting with a cold............
on Sunday. I've felt like crap for three days now and of course, this trip has been planned for months. Fortunately, the coughing is finally starting to calm down and my fever broke today (while I was out mowing the side of our freakin' mountain). I'm going to pick-up one of those cough mufflers tomorrow just in case the cough is still around. I've heard they work pretty well. Anybody ever try one? Any other tips for hunting with a cold?

My wife would tell you to "Cowboy up". She worked every day except one while taking Chemo and radiation, so I've learned not to complain around her.
I have had good luck with Mucinex. It dries me up and stops the coughing that comes from the drainage. Hope you have a sucessful hunt.0 -
its good on you.. 0 -
My remedy is to go to South Dakota, shoot some dogs, drink a little local fruit of the gods Afterwords. My plans exactly for friday and saturday. Can realy help a cold. quote: Give a man a fish, he eats for a day, teach a man to hunt, he is gone every weekend. 0 -

When you hit a point where you're just sitting back thinking, This ain't worth doing -- quit. Until then, I find Dayquil works as well as anything. Have a safe and enjoyable trip, and good luck! What's in the crosshairs? I'm taking a 13-year-old kid out for his first deer hunt, Saturday (Sunday, too, if Saturday doesn't produce). 0 -
I tried one of those cough mufflers but I didn't get good results. I couldn't even cough right into one of those things. My cough was so bad that I sounded like a bear in heat. So I just figured I sounded like a wild animal when I was in my tree stand and maybe I would attract something. 0 -
Thanks for the suggestions. It's hard to keep me down when I'm sick and I usually work right through most bugs. Besides, I'm too stubborn to cancel a white tail hunting trip just for a cold. I've hunted with full blown bronchitis before (and drug a 200+ lb deer carcass almost four miles), so this shouldn't slow me down too much. I've been using the Dayquil and Alka Seltzer for colds the past two days. Sleep seems to be the best cure, so I'm trying to get plenty of rest for the next few nights. I'll have to give the "Cold-Eeze" cough drops a try and will pick some up when I get our supplies tomorrow (thanks Don). In the meantime, I'm off to bed. Goodnight all! [^]
