K&N air Filters, whats the Truth
I was just wondering what anybodies thoughts were on a K&N air filter. I have a 06 Monte Carlo SS, and the guy told me told me it would boost HP by 13. Are these things worth the 50 bucks

I honestly dont know about the setup in your car, but I once had a mustang and bought a cold air kit that requied me to remove part of the fender well or whatever you call it just if front of the right front tire. I should have stuck with factory stuff as I did not really see any noticable changes.
Although with a truck like a sliverado and K&N filter [I imagine a complete cold air will be similiar], all you have to do it spray cleaner on it, wash it out, let it dry, re-oil it and let that dry; and presto your done.
The K&N system is great if you dont mind the cleaning part and initial cost and the filter acess if required on your car. However I currently have a economy car that will not really benefit from it so I choose just to install regular filters.
Since a complete cold air kit can cost you some pennies I'll assume the $50 will apply to the filter only. YES!; I would recommend it if you only want to clean it and not to worry about it now and then. However I would not recommend it for the HP gains as you probably will not notice that much difference. Fuel MGP would increase ever so slightly though.
Remember to clean it if you get it; you dont want the dirt to actually hurt your hp's there.0
