How tough is it? What are the laws? Can it be shipped to my house?

That's something I don't understand. You can buy loaded ammo and have it shipped just like anything else. But, if you buy a box of primers or a jug of powder, you pay a $20 haz mat fee in addition to regular shipping. If you order primers and powder at the same time, they ship seperate and each with a haz mat fee. Why can loaded ammo, which has BOTH powder and primer, be shipped without the fee?? Makes no sense at all to me. 0 -
Other than loading it myself, mail-order is the best and cheapest way to get 9mm Mak for my wife. Last time I ordered, $142.00 got a thousand rounds put on my doorstep. 0 -

Here is something everyone should know about shipping charges on ammo.
Ammo is heavy!
When the order reaches 60 pounds in weight it jumps almost $30.00 extra.
So, when placing an order (online or phone)check and recheck your final shipping charge. It may actually be cheaper to place two separate orders.
59,9 pounds cost me $22.00 UPS from Wideners.
60 pounds is almost $50.00.
So, I add and subtract from the cart and check the shipping to get it close to 59.5 pounds,
For 7.62X39 124 gr that is 77 boxes.
Fortunately Widener's gives a case price per box on 50 boxes and up no matter how odd the quantity.
I just had 77 (1,540 rounds) shipped for $252.00 ($230 ammo $22 shipping, case 1,000 $149.00)
This is not the dealer's doing. It is set by UPS
And, I order online for all my stuff. cheaper, faster, better service!

Yes, you can order it online, but most sellers on here and some companies need a copy of your ID or ammo statement the first time. Ammo is heavy, and I often pay $20 to $30 to have it shipped to me. 0 -
SW 357- Cartridges, small arms, (proper name when shipping) do not become HAZMAT when shipped GROUND until you exceed about 62 lbs total. A good part of that mass is brass and bullet. It does not present a mass detonation hazard in small amounts. Primers and powder, on the other hand, DO. I work with explosives. Most blasting caps are under UN class 1.1 (REAL hazmat), however, one model number electric cap is a 1.4- which is much easier to ship. Difference? The lower shipping hazard cap contains identical amounts of explosive- but they have LONG leg wires attached- and the increased mass of copper will soak up enough energy that these caps will not mass detonate is you were to toss the case into a fire. Some things will not seem to make sense until you dig deep enuff. 0 -
Buying ammo is easy from places like Natchess & Cheaperthandirt, but how about selling ammo on the net. I have a lot of good ammo that I just don't use and would like to sell off, but am not sure how to do it.
Anybody know ??

I know you are on the southside of the state. If you're buying from AimSurplus. Their headquarters are just outside of Cincinatti. I drove down to pick up a rifle and some ammo once. Easy to deal with. 0 -

I don't remember the last time I had to sign. I get it shipped to me by UPS and Fed-X.
No laws in Indiana about not having it shipped.

Having shipped ammo before, its a pretty simple process. Box it up and attach one of those blue "ORM-D" stickers to the box. Take it to an actual UPS customer service desk (located at the physical terminal) and they'll take care of it for you. If you dont have an ORM-D sticker, they will provide one for you.0 -

List it here. I have sold a bit here on GB recently, and had no problems at all.
You can ship via UPS very easily by going to a UPS hub. It cannot go to the little UPS stores as per UPS regulations. And there is no HAZMAT fee's.0 -
Last time I was in UPS, their warehouse, not a store, they had posted a new sign stating they no longer except ammo from individuals, only ammo dealers.
I don't know if that means some of you are lucky, they have not caught on there or my area has taken this on themselves but I can not ship ammo from central Florida anymore.
It can be shipped to me but I can not send it out.
