I'm looking at buying a shotgun and a friend has a Mossberg model 88 12 gauge with a 28" barrel. How does that gun compare to a Remington 870 Express or Benelli Nova? I noticed when looking at it, the forearm is pretty loose. Is that common of Mossbergs? Does that happen with all pump shotguns? Thanks in advance.

  moss are noisy,
  remington is a better gun IMO, but they both work
  benellis work, but feel funny to me, they do not rust which is nice for duck hunters

  The loose slide is common with mossbergs and some hunters don't like it. It is not common on Remingtons (no experience with Benellis).

  $125 Gun, cant expect much.

  Personally id rather have a 500 because the safety is on top. 88 is the same thing just with a saftey on the trigger gaurd. Good starter guns and everyone always says they are noisy but ive never noticed. And i have done alot of stalk hunting for geese and deer.
