new rifle questions
Gentlemen,
I just took delivery of my new .577 T Rex wildcat built on a Ruger number 1 action. Does anyone know when squirrel and rabbit season starts in South Carolina? Does anyone know if the 700 grain or 720 grain bullets work better for barking squirrels? [:D][:D][;)]
Google .577 T Rex and watch the test firing!

I think you'll find that the .577 T-Rex is a marginally effective bullet for taking small game. I suggest something more along the lines of a .700 Nitro Express in order to ensure clean, humane, kills 100% of the time. 0 -
Rack,
Good point, I guess with the 700 nitro you could just shoot the trunk of the tree and "bark" anything that may be somewhere in or on the tree!0 -
Congrats![8D] I'd love to shoot it! 0 -

Actually the 577 T-rex is more powerful than the 700 nitro and it has a greater ability to generate even more power.
577 T-rex:
750 gr solid
177.5 grs Rl-19
2473 fps
10,180 lbs of energy
700 Nitro Express
1000 gr fmj
2000 fps
8900 lbs of energy
I think that both of these cartridges make great squeeker rifles, they would also work well on pigs[:p]0 -

If you take a close look at the "12ga From Hell" thread on the reloading forum, you'll find that it exceeds both of them with firforming loads and wumps on them with hot loads.
To the OP, the T-Rex is not a wildcat, and never was. Now, the 600 Overkill IS a wildcat
