Need advice re: carrying gun in Illinois
Here in the next month or so, my family and I will be driving to Illinois. I know that Illinois does not honor Kentucky's CCDW, but what are the laws concerning having a gun in the vehicle while traveling?

not unless you really want too meet bubba! when missouri passed the conceal carry law the illinois police went on the news and told everyone in mo if you cross into thier state with a loaded gun in your car or on your person you are going too jail if caught. 0 -
In IL, your gun must be in a case with ammo stored seperately. Here in Illinois your need a FOID card (Firearms Owners Identification) to possess a gun so being a non-resident you might get in trouble if your caught tranporting a firearm.

Two or three times a year some poor truck driver or person just driving through gets caught with a gun in the passinger compartment in the county where I work.
They are genrally charged with Unlawful Use of Weapons, a class A
Misd. Possible sentancing, Up to 364 days in jail and up to a 2500.00 fine. Generally, they get a year or two of probation, big fine and the loss of the firearm.0 -

there is no crime or need to carry a firearm in Illinois, just ask the governor
just watch your speed, allot of small town barney fife types patrol the highways going through their town in hopes of a big score, i assume your coming up 57 maybe to 64, there are several unmarked state boys that patrol those highways, green mustang,blue mustang, blue camaro, blue vw jetta, brown camaro, and a dozen on motorcycles0 -

I no longer shop in Danville, IL due to the firearm laws.
I knew of a guy who had the misfortune of being stopped there, the officer noticed the box for a Glock. They detained him for over an hour searching his truck for the gun.0 -
O.K. , I grew up and resided in Ill. up till apx. nine (9) years ago , worked as a LEO there (as here also) ...
Bottom line : Dont do it , at the very least , dont get caught ...

There's nothing to see in Illinois. If you have family there, invite them to visit you, and try to convince them to stay once they're at your place. 0 -
Also remember that Chicago's laws are much much more strict.

Now, I really don't know what I should do. If I don't carry, I'll feel very uneasy for the whole trip. If I do carry and for some reason, get pulled over, I'm going to jail. Never been there before, but I already think that Illinois sucks!!!!! 0 -
