Do You Know Mike Huckabee - Candidate

He's a former Baptist minister. Ultra Conservative. Strongly pro-life, anti-gambling, drinking or "adult" entertainment.

The biggest political hit he took was over his habit of pardoning murderers. Must be that preacher part of him that wants to forgive. Angered some prosecutors and some victims' families.

Solidly pro-Second Amendment. A hunter and has a concealed carry permit (and has stated in public that he actually carries a concealed handgun for protection). Signed the CCW law in AR into being and publicly defends the right of citizens to be armed.

A little weak on immigration. Last I heard he didn't favor deporting illegals or building a fence along the border. He's not a perfect... who is?

IMO he's the most Conservative candidate announced so far. IMO more Conservative than Gingrich. I could support him based on his Second Amendment stance even though I would disagree with him on many other issues. But I tend to lean a little moderate on some social issues (like drinking and gambling which I favor [}:)]). A real Conservative would find little to complain about with Huckabee.

Well..................I am not supporting anyone who wants me to give up my Scotch! Thats going a bit tooooooooo far!

I do wish that the Republican candidates would stop taking on the pro-life issue as a campaign plank item. I do think its ok to have that opinion but I don't think the Republican Party should push that as a main course. Its a loser and it just pushes most of the women over to the Hillary side. I believe the majority of women want that right and will tank a candadiate that takes that religious right position.

I am a Christian and sure understand the importance but I think it should be played down and not be given front row status. I think a conservative minister would put that issue at the top of their list.
So I suppose that eliminates Huckabee and Romney from being a serious contenders in this race.

From the studies I've seen, being pro-life will cost you more male votes than female. Go figure...

The last poll I saw didn't even have Tancrado on it. Huckabee might be the guy to throw our support behind.

I'll vote for Hillary or Obama before Rudy or McCain.....if I'm going to vote for an anti, I might as well go all the way

Read an article in U.S. News and World Report from last week. Huckabee seems closest to who I'd like to see, but there really isn't anyone that lights my fire.
