Nazi Dagger-Real Or Knock Off

One of my gun trader buddies called last night and told me he had a Nazi dagger and ask how to tell if is the real thing.I had to confess that I didnt have a clue.He said it had 12 SSP on the blade and my guess was 12th SS Panzer.Any way to tell real from fake?

  Be careful with this one,,, some fakes are easily spotted, some not,,,I AM NO EXPERT, but after handling some, there is a "feel" about the real ones. I know it doesn't help you, but get a true expert on WW2 items before cashing down. I speak from a little experience after getting a couple of hosings..nambu

  Since the original manufacturers started making the exact same knifes on the same equipment post war it is actually impossible to tell as they are not fakes but were not made in the war.
  I am sure there are those that know which is which but that is one area I would stay away from personally.
  There is no difference in the material and workmanship (Of the real ones)
  There are also repos made by others that are considered fakes as well
