I have a 308 and I really like it, just wish someone would make some 20 round mags for it!

I've got the 7.62 x 39 with the long (20.5"?) barrel and wood furniture, Russian Scope with polymer side mount. With a bi-pod, I get 4" groups at 100 yards consistently using either surplus or wolf ammo. The barrel is fairly light and does heat up when pushed fairly hard, but it is a great, cheap, reliable rifle.

I'll probably start with changing to a Tapco G2 trigger group then putting a pistol grip on it, thinking about a different stock. Theres a guy that makes bullet guides I'm going to put in it so I can use hi-cap Galil mags. I'm not sure what glass I'll top it with yet.

Tromix buys most of the stuff from Tapco for his customized jobs.
And Tony has the 20 & 30 round mags as well in 223 & 308.

Tony stated a couple of weeks ago that the demand for the Saiga rifle was down.
And might be shutting off the production of the rifles, in favor of the hot selling shotguns.

    D@D,

Go here and do the conversion yourself, fairly simple if you are mechanically inclined.

Seeing as how everyone else is posting links, here is one to a site dedicated to Saigas. http://forum.saiga-12.com/ There is one forum on the just for the Saiga .223.

I have one; and, have modified it to accept high cap mags. I love it. Much to the amazement of some of my shooting buddies, I have yet to experience a FTF or FTE with it since modifying it. They were all telling me it would be one problem after another Mine eats whatever I choose to feed it. Wolf, American Eagle, WWB, it gobbles it all up. I hope you have as good an experience with yours.

Yeah the Galil 35rd, 223 Orlite mags are going for about $10 right now but better get them soon. There are a bunch of Galil parts kits out now and people are building them. I think I would like to get a Saiga .308 and have Tony work it over but it is close to the cost of the FAL I want. The mags for the Saiga are not real cheep.

Tony called me Wed morning and said my Sagia 12 ga is done and got shipped out so I am hoping to see it by Monday. With my luck it will come in after I go back to work so I wont be able to get it untill Friday.

I had a 20" Saiga in .308 but sold it when I got tired of only having 1 8/round mag ... if I could have only waited about another year and a half!

    P6230028.jpg

I got it "used" and the stock conversion already done. I installed a Red-Star adjustable trigger because of the horrible trigger slap (which is probably why I got it cheep)
From what I remember, accuracy was good even with surplus, but I didn't shoot it much and I think it was one of the ones I sold when I bought my 1955 MGA ...
