Self defense shooting with a black powder......
revolver. Was just watching the local news and there was a shooting involving a black powder pistol up the road from where I live. They said there was an ongoing fued between two guy's and it ended up with one shooting the other one with a cap and ball pistol.

Aren't the old "pepper-box" 4 barreled pistols black powder?
I always figured those would be a nasty close-up gun. If you somehow missed, the power burns would blind your target0 -
These pistols, in .36 or .44 caliber, gained a reputation as man killers in the Civil War. Shooting the round ball, a cavalry man could take an enemy trooper out of the saddle, and out of the fight, with a single torso hit.
If a guy could not use modern firearms, one of these would make an effective self defense weapon.0 -
I have often thought it would make a good self defense gun. I would trust it to do the job, over most (but not all) handgun cartridges. 0 -
I wonder if it was a duel??
Nasty to get shot up close with a blackpowder gun! All that messy stuff coming out of the end of the barrel along with the ball.
I understand that they are a lot more accurate than we would expect. The rifles could really reach out and touch someone long distance.0 -
[:0] ouch! 0 -
It was probably one of black assault cap and ball revolvers. 0 -
Would not be my first choice, but would be better than a knife. 0 -
added smoke screen for clean getaway. 0
