Will it void my warranty?

I desperately need to change out the factory CD player/ radio in my '06 Taurus. I'm not familiar at all with new vehicle warranties, so if I swap it out for my Clarion deck, will it void the warranty? I take pride in my install jobs, a few people commenting I do better work then some stereo shops, so the wiring is gravy for me.

    I don't think it would. I'd check first with your dealer to make sure.

    It is law that a dealer cannot abitrarily void your warranty for aftermarket modifications. The modification has to directly effect the warranty component and be the cause of any problems. So if you installed an after market radio and you has some stearing wheel controls that were linked in, and some of the other controls on the wheel failed to work, they could probably point to your aftermarket radio. But if your engine blew an oil pump, there is no way they can connect your aftermarket radio to your oil pump.

    Also I would not suggest asking the dealer since their answer will be based on how much business they think they can squeeze out of you.

    Catpealer, does the factory radio have the disc changer mounted in the trunk? If so, I may be interested in purchasing it if you change to the Clairon. My daughter has the Sable (same I believe) radio with no provision for playing CD's except for the changer mounted in the trunk. My grand-daughter is getting upset because she cannot play cd's while in the car. E-mail me if you decide to change. Actually all I need is the changer.

    It will NOT void your warranty on anything but the speakers and componets. BUT, by splicing(usually not necessary) into the factory wiring harness, you will void any and all harnesses connected to that harness itself. I would strongly suggest against splicing. Buy the harness kit to plug your new stereo to the old harness. Much easier and will not void the warranty. I was a stereo junkie in high school. I installed everyones systems, I really enjoyed it. The harnesses made it so much easier.

    If you have a factory installed amplifier, it will be void as well.

    Of course the reciever itself will not be covered by Ford.

    Peabo, all I have is the crappy dingle disk in dash. Cubs, I am biggest praiser of the thing we call a wiring kit, I use them every time I do an install, except for one truck I had. That I had to straight up wire for a radio, it never had one in it.

    Last Taurus I had was an '05. The radio, climate control and some computer stuff are all one unit.

    Is the '06 different?

    So long as it does not lead to the car burning up. Somthing that would be considered customer neglegence.
