The main problem with any chemicals you use is the residue chemicals left behind. It will screw most finish up after you try to restain or oil it. 0 -
if it is a varnish or laquer type finish on it now try scrapeing with a flexible sharp blade, like a single edge razor blade most times the finish will flake off easily and only very light sanding with 3-400 grit to smooth any "lines" you may have left with the blade 0 -
Formby's Furniture Refinisher works fine. There are other brands that work just as well,Parks is what I use most of the time but can't always get it. 0 -
Try this. Use Loctite gasket remover. spray it on and the finish glides off with ease. Learned this from an old guy that checkers guns for a living. Ive used it a couple times and its a breeze. no problem accepting oil after use. 0
