I understand your opimisiom(sp) but the last thing we can do with these types of people is appear weak!
If we allow ourselves to look too weak in thier eyes they will use it to thier advantage and attack us while we are off gaurd ( 9/11 and the Cole are good examples of this)!

I was in no way implying that you were blindly following.
I only stated about your optimisom(sp), like in your statement of being niether for or against it. To me that sounds like you understand it if we do it, but would really rather we didn't.
I believe these people are probing for weakness in our country and if we back down from them we are showing that weakness.

Funny, I don't hear any any Democratians claim Iran is bluffing. You would think that Iraq and WMD would have embolden Democratian leadership to make such claims.
Maybe Baraak will make those claims in a Presidential debate. He can say he was right about WMD. He was right about not to invade Iraq. He can claim he is right about Iran.

under other circumstances bombing Iran may be called for, but not now and not for us. What needs to happen is the European Union needs to get off their asses and do a little more than sanctions.
Another consideration is the corruption of the Iranian government, and their economic stability, is it possible to destabilize the government and effect change from within with economic policies and sanctions?? I know North Korea is on the brink of ruin, and is supported by China, and all China would have to do is withdraw that support and the government would most likely collapse. Same is true with Iran I believe, I think it would be possible for us to stand back and effect a means of change other that bombing them and uniting the arab world against us. ie the USSR, we didn't have to face them in an actual shootout, eventually they rotted from within, and the government was eventually overthrown. With Iran we need to firm patience, while also not allowing them to develop nuclear weapons. Although they say they are refining fuel for "peaceful purposes" I am sure there is research going on somewhere for other means than peace. And this should not be allowed.
So the way I see it the best approach would be to let the European Union handle this without us, either by force or by sanctions
The other option is to let Israel bomb the piss out of them and try like hell to stay out of it.
Either way a military option for us would be silly for us to undertake at this point. When I was in the Air Force we regularly flew within 7 miles of Iran, and it was made very clear to us that 7 miles may still be a tempting target for their air defense which isn't half bad.....
Need to be careful we don't bite off more than we can chew, and thats hard to do with Walker Texas rangers retarded nephew in office.0
