    It is just a 10/22 now made in a pistol configuration.
    Same magazine as a 10/22

    It is NOT illegal to cut a rifle BBL off, but it would not become a pistol by definition, it would become a SBR (short bbl rifle) and require a tax stamp.

    The legal way to build one is to do what I did when I made mine. Use a virgin receiver. If it has NEVER been a rifle, it can not have the bbl cut off so by adding a short bbl it is then a pistol.

    You could cut it down as long as it doesnt have a full stock, it has to have a pistol grip.
