Let me see what is going on this weekend later today as my mom is comming out from California. But I think her and my sister-in-law are going to Columbia Zoo on Saturday or Sunday or Monday.
I'll shoot you an email with my Cell # and you can give me a call.0 -
cartod, your gonna like the biltmore, amazing house and grounds...make sure and check out the winery...free taste tests [:p], the surrounding area is really nice also, hint take the blue ridge parkway back up from asheville to fancy gap and then get back on 77n nice drive if you have never been that way..Loko 0 -
Or take the Blue Ridge Parkway to Boone,NC and eat at the Daniel Boone Inn Sunday for Dinner. Make sure you go to The Grove Park Inn to eat once or at least just or walk around and look. The wife and I got some weird looks when we pulled in with the Blazer and four wheelers loaded on a trailer, got valet parking and went in to eat the best Sunday brunch you ever had. Fireplaces big enough to get in. We love going in the winter. You'll have entirely too much to do with Bele Chere going on. You'll see the most diverse lifestyles this weekend just walking around the festival. 0 -

+1 on that. Plan to spend most of a day at Mr. Vanderbilt's bachelor pad. If you decide to do the BRP, allow plenty of time. 45mph speed limit and they mean it!0 -
You just happen to be the luckiest man alive - look what is in Ashville! Stop by and say hi for me will ya?

See if you can locate the town of Buffalo while you're there! [:)]

We will be staying there for 2 days, Im not sure if its in the house or not??? For the price it better be. [:D] anyway I will be absolutely sure to check out the woodwork. Anything else special I should see please let me know.0 -
The desert [cacti] greenhouse that is/was there is pretty special, and the grounds themselves take some time to enjoy properly and not be rushed, the home is the only guided portion or used to be,it will amaze you at the stuff [indoor pool, bowling alley etc.] that they had back in the day, really all i could add is just take your time and look around alot,I dont recall alot after the afternoon visit to the winery [:o)][:D] Loko 0 -
Cartod. Have fun. Don't bother looking for Buffalo. I was kidding, it's under the lake! I did hear somewhere that Vanderbilt built the house originally as a hunting lodge though.

Yep, been to The Biltmore, but they didn't let us park on the lawn.
They've got a very cool tunnel from the 'Big House' to the stables.
