Question on Job Resumes'

well its that time to start having responsibilites...[:(!][;)]

my question is.

how much should i capitalize my letters.

for example:
"skills"
-Hydraulic and Electrical schematic reading

OR

-Hydraulic and electrical .....

OR

-hydraulic and electrical ....

just looking for some ideas. please keep the smart ass comments to a minimum and i do appreciate any thoughts or whats worked for you in the past. thanks!

    I would capitalize the "Hydraulic" and "Electrical". I think it draws attention to it which is what you want. I just sent a resume out last week and kept making changes to it (what to capitalize, put in bold, ect). It'll drive a person crazy.

    Use: Hydraulic and Electrical Schematic Reading

    Do not use any bolding, italics, or anything else like that. Most companies now scan any submitted resumes and the scanning does not work well with any of that type of stuff. Also only use Courier or Times New Roman in 11 or 12 font, for the same reason. If it is going to the US Government use Courier with 12 font. Use only a high grade WHITE paper, for the same reason. Do the same format for emailed resumes, for the same reason. They will go directly into the resume software.

    The only time you could do any special fonts or highlighting is if you are taking the resume and handing it to the hiring manager.

    Your resume should have a synopsis of your experience and education right under your name and contact info. Most resumes get looked at for about 30 seconds, you have to grab them with the synopsis, so they will read the rest of it.

    I have recently updated my resume, if you like send me an email and I will shoot you a copy. Are you using one of the MS office formats? If not seriously consider doing so.

    I'm in the process of tweaking my resume as we speak. I've got more material here on how to compose a proper resume than I can shake a stick at. The consensus of the material is that you should keep your resume to TWO pages if you're doing anything other than applying for an entry-level position where you have no experience and very little education and skills.
