cost of living... remember when
when i was young there was a country store we walked to and could watch the butcher slice you a chunk of ham and make you a sandwitch walk over to the ice barrel pick out a coke for 25 cents. and even though you were young could buy a surplus rifle from the gun barrel and as many loose shells as you could grab with 1 hand for 20 bucks. Thse were the days. the old fellows would be sittin round the wood stove smokin their pipes...i can still smell the aroma. and to top it off you knew everyone and they knew you. ahh home.

I dont have SAT's yet. Here they do MAP tests. its Missouri Assesment Program. its same thing i think, but ive never had to do any SAT's yet

beer for the good stuff was about $4.00 a 12 pack0 -
I quit smoking when cigarettes were .69 a pack. 0 -
Cigarettes .23 a pack, gas .25, soda .15 drive in movie .50 or Thursday nights was buck night. A car load for $1. Work (farming) was 9 to 10 hours a day - lasted until the job was done for $12. a day.
You have to remember the low wages along with the low prices back then.0 -
I remember the late 1950's and early 1960's well.Smokes were 22 cents a pack.A Coke was a dime and you could get 20 Hershey bars for a $1.00---Chevron Custom Supreme was 52 cents a gallon.My mothers house payments from 1956 to 1968 was $17.50 a month.Yes you read that right.Twinkies were a dime.Comic books were a dime.Levi's were $4.00 and lee Ryder's were even cheaper.When Levi's went to $4.25 mom quit buying them.She started buying me Lee's.I use to cut the red levi tags out of the pocket and sew it on my Lee Ryder's.I bought my first car in 1966 for $6.00--A 1955 English Ford Anglia.You could get a box of fried chicken delivered to your house for under $3.00 and scarf it down while watching Johnny and Ed.--You could go to a movie for 50 cents at noon and stay all day and watch the movie several times.

First off, and to my friend Lorne, I was 12 years old and on the perfect vacation with my hottie cousin Charity in Maine and hit some penny yard sales for next to nothing for fly fishing gear. Then we walked up the shore of the Kennebeck to a place where you could buy a one pound lobster and fries for $1.25.

I'd like to think she still has them even though she became a bitt snobby in her late thirties. $1.25 for a can of soda? Drink water, and not the bottled type, drink Ozark spring water for free. Remember, Evian spelled backwards spells niave. $1.25 for a drink, WTH is the world coming to?0 -

On saturday nights, Dad would fill our vehicles with gas and give us $5 for helping him out on the farm for the week. Since I had a full tank of gas I could get a 6pk of Budweiser for a $1.95, get in to the drive-in movie for a buck, and a large cheese pizza from the concession stand for $2. End of night I still had a nickle left, a good buzz, and a full belly. No one watched the movie, that was just the place to hang out. 0
