Some time ago my computer would only show about 2/3 of the screen every where until I hit the maximize button. Someone told me how to get out of that problem but I forget who and how. Could someone hold my hand again please?

Have a two year old computer with three ram slots. If I put a 512 400 Mhz stick in slot 1 computer won't even boot up. If I put two sticks of 256 333 Mhz in slots one and two the computer says I have 480 megs of ram. I added one stick of 128 266 Mhz in slot three and the computer says I have 640 Megs of ram which would be right. I'm guessing the computer just won't run at 400 on the ram. Also when I use the mouse to hit the scroll buttons on the right of monitor it scrolls but in jumps of about 4 lines. Drives me crazy. I am used to smooth scrolling. It acts like I'm using the wheel which works as it should. Any help out there? One more thing. Three small print on my screen looks washed out. Had two other computers on the same moniter and they work fine. Uhh...just ONE more thing! I have one computer that turns on every time the phone rings, why? Thats all [:)]

Lady gave me a Hewlett Packard Pavilion about 4 years old and said it worked fine. All I can get when trying to boot up is a black screen with a box in it that says," If you can read this message, Windows has sucessfully initialized this display adapter. To use this adapter as part of your desktop, open the display option in the Control Panel and adjust the settings on the setting tab." Thats as far as it will go. Beating on key board, smacking the computer and saying a few off color words don't work. Help?
BTW It's a pentium three with windows 98 SE which I tried to re-install and also tried a startup floppy.

In my documents I have a folder with row after row of thumbnail pictures that I can scroll down, enlarge, print Etc. Yesterday I scanned a bunch of pictures and loaded them in the computer. Somehow I managed to start a new folder with them and when I open it there is one row of pictures at the bottom of the screen. To view them I have to scroll ACROSS and only see about six thumbnails at a time. How the heck do I get them to my existing folder and display them the same way? [:(]

Connection, wires, battery, dirt on the little round ball? Check for fuzz on the rollers under the ball. I am not a puter guy but BTDT.

How old is your PC and mouse? If it's over 5 years old; well it's time to buy another MACINTOSH.

Try another mouse. Last time that happened to me it was a defective mouse.

Go into properties and under mouse, look to see if the "hide cursor" box is checked. Don
