to answer your question about harvesting sunflowers.
use a normal combine and use a row crop head like the use to harvest soybeans....in my case i use my 9600 john deere combine and an 8 row john deere 854A....just dont have to run the head on the ground.
Oh yea sunflower dust is very flamable many combines have burned because of them.....one bad year i know of 15 combines that burned enough to be put out of commission or completely burned up.....that same year i had mine of fire many many times.0 -

Thanks. I was wondering because I've never seen sunflowers harvested. Grew up around corn and soybeans, and I remember Dad making us go out to the bean field to chop down the wild sunflowers out of the beans. Some of those I swear had trunks as big as trees.[:D] 0
