Mountain Lions in Missouri?
Any of you Missouri guys got any game pics of them???

I've heard of them in KS, over by Concordia. I don't think any pictures exist though. 0 -
I'm from Mo, and have seen this posted in several sporting goods stores. "Supposedly", it is from the area, (SW MO), BUT, I've seen it posted too many other places to put much belief in it.

Friend of mine in NE MO got a pic of one on his game cam, and a few years ago a paper in Trenton MO had an article and pics of one killed on the IA MO border (the guy treed it with his hounds). 0 -
There was a big discussion on another forum with pics not long ago. A CO from Missouri piped in and confirmed they are there. I think the discussion started because of a newspaper article about one being in town somewhere that the town police were trying to get it out.
I'll see if I can find that article for you.

Walt, I grew up in Missouri and have seen mountain lion tracks there. I have never seen a lion. 0 -
I've heard of one being hit by a car in northern mo., and have saw what i believe to be an old, or injured one here in s/c mo. on a few different occasions. I say old, because it would just kind of saunter off, occassionally looking back..not in a hurry or acting catlike at all. 0 -

Keep an eye on your fish and game people, try to keep them from doing what they have done here in Oregon, our cats are almost protected,to kill one we have to have a licens and a tag and then we have to take them to a fish and game office for them to see them. the cats and the bears has almost wiped out our deer and elk along with bad managment. I go to the mt. a lot and could have killed a 100 or so but I will not buy a tag. 0 -
Guy near Serena Illinois shot and killed a wolf acouple of years ago. He got into some big trouble witht he state. (There are also a lot of sheep around Serena.
About 5 years ago a bow hunter near New Boston (west of Aledo along the Mississippi River) found a dead mountian lion. The DNR's guess was it was someone's pet... OK? Right?0 -
Plenty of spottings, but no pics from around here. I have one neighbor that spotted one several times over the course of 5 years. My grandmother and an elderly couple stopped on the side of the road to watch one in the field south of the place I used to live, and the neighbor lost 3 calves to a predator in that same field. They were opened up cleanly, like it had been done with a knife, and almost completely eviscerated. 0 -
A guy who lives a couple of miles away from me had a young horse attacked. He said it looked like someone had taken a straight razor to it. He had the horse running loose in his pasture and it was so scared he had a hard time catching it. They seem to think it was a Bear? 0 -
Those big cats are here in southern Iowa for sure. A few years back I was heading to a doctor's appointment and popped over this hill. At the bottom of the hill was this critter by the bridge and I thought, "what a stupid coyote", until it turn sideways enough to see that long tail. It ran off to a driveway to a field and stood there and watched me drive by. The following day I called our local game warden and reported the sighting and he also told me that we would start seeing black bear in this area before long, as they also were moving north. Not long after I spotted that big cat a fellow in the next county over bagged one. Like coyotes, mountain lions are considered a nusiance species and are not protected by any laws. Our state legislature tried to pass a law to protect them, but the bill failed. That was a good year for me as I also spotted a pair of wolves on the Iowa/ Missouri border, saw several bald eagles, and a few bobcats. 0
