Belleville IL. gun show policy change.
I went to the gun show at the fairgrounds on Sun. I was informed that they are now enforcing the 24 hr. long gun waiting period on "in the aisle" and "at the door" person to person sales. All sales of this type must now go through a licensed dealer at the show for a 12 dollar fee. There were more cops cruising the aisles than usuall. I was told by a dealer that it is a 10,000 fine if you get caught trying to sell a gun without using a dealer. I bet a dealer turned in the show promoter to the state to try to stop those kind of sales.

You bet FFL Dealers have been pushing for new and more restrictive gun control laws for years. Everybody knows that the Clinton's and Brady's have taken a lot of heat for all the anti gun laws our local FFL's have pushed for.[;)]0 -

Didn't go to this one. The dealers at the shows in the Saint Louis area are the most paranoid bunch I've ever seen. If they don't know you they automatically assume you're ATF. Maybe they have good reason.0 -

Their trade magazines years ago pushed heavily for getting the 'kitchen table' dealers out of business..less competition, don't you know...too short-sighted to realize that more people buying guns means more people buying guns...and entirely too stupid to realize that the entire FFL BS is directly contravening the Constitution..that the FFL DEALER IS THE SPEARPOINT
of the federal thrust of the dagger into the heart of the Second Amendment.
Your friendly FFL dealer down the street is the front man for the federal governments destruction of the Second.

Comp. Stat. 65/1.1. A gun show includes the entire premises provided for the event, including parking areas.
Non-residents of Illinois cannot purchase handguns at gun shows, but may buy rifles or shotguns and ammunition for such long guns if they are residents of Iowa, Missouri, Indiana, Wisconsin or Kentucky, or are residents of another state with a valid non-resident hunting license. 430 Ill. Comp. Stat. 65/3a(b). The non-residents of Illinois must not be otherwise prohibited by the laws of Illinois, their state of domicile, or federal law from purchasing or possessing such guns. Id. Non-residents who purchase firearms at gun shows are not subject to the statutory waiting periods. 720 Ill. Comp. Stat. 5/24-3(g).

and yes the belleville and collinsville gun shows are crawling with agents, if "bob in saint louis" where here he could back me up on it he works the belleville show regularly {8 tables in the back north room}, i think it is due to being located in between one of their offices in fairview heights0 -

Yes, know of at least 2 FFL holders who think that all sales, even private ones, should go through a FFL holder, Seemingly so they can make a couple of bucks off of the sale. My shadow will never darken their door as long as they have that attitude. Told one of them that I'd rather do business with WallyWorld than him, which didn't set real good with him either.0 -

I believe this law has been in effect for awhile. I am not sure why they have not enforced it at the Belleville show until now. Like I said before, someone may have turned them in to the state. I have been going to this show for awhile and have seen many of these types of sales every time I go to one.0 -
i may be wrong, but i think it was part of several that was introduced in 05, but was bargained down to this, and went into effect around the first of the year 0 -
Ya that sucks right? Reminds me of the time I talked a guy down to 750 total with tax and all for a brand new smith and wesson 500 magnum. Only to find out that to get the gun, I had to drive two and a half hours back down to Peoria from the Chi burbs plus pay a transfer fee to the dealer ($20). It was a love hate type of thing. Non the less I still got the 500 and have been entertaining and snapping wrist ever since.[;)] 0
