it hits home...
well it happened to family last night, 01:00 the wife hits me and yells "we gotta go"
go where i mumble, half asleep...she shows me a text on her cell from the daughter at work..."was just robbed".
went from asleep to dressed, armed and in the car in about 5 sec. and had to wait for the wife in the car.
lil girl held up well, dialed 911 and texted the wife while she talked to them but the emotional shake up started once mom and dad were there.
punk came in and asked for a carton of smokes, when she turned around with them he had a knife and demanded the contents of the cash drawer.
this is a mini mkt whose brass have a strict "no WEAPON" (gun or knife), on duty or terminated, do what they want and you dont get hurt mentality.
after she calmed down a bit she said (out of moms and the cops earshot) "people say it happens so fast, but it seemed like an hour that i stared at him to have a good description, and a hundred ways i could have taken him, he was on the other side of the counter with a steak knife for cryin out loud" said she almost laughed at him and tell him hell no when he asked for the cash, but she was on camera and didnt want to get the brass started since it is THEIR policy.
main thing, she was unhurt except for a good roller coaster of emotion/nerves, and between her description and whatever video they got, they nailed the sob this a.m. with the coat, hat and knife still in his car.

Thank god she wasn't hurt. 0 -
Really glad your daughter is okay and wasn't injured! 0 -
I'm glad the daughter was ok and the thief was caught. It sounds like she reacted very well given the situation. 0 -

I have a buddy that works a the local 7-11, that has a bullet proof vest, dosen't help with a knife,0 -
Thank God that your daughter was unharmed. And God bless you for raising a daughter who had the presence of mind to analyze the situation and come out unscathed. 0 -
Thank God she was not hurt and thank you for teaching her to be self-reliant and responsible. More folks like you are what this country needs. Be proud of yourselves for I know you're already thankful and grateful. 0 -
Glad to hear she was unharmed. I think those cashiers at AM/PM's have one of the most dangerous jobs in the in the US and should should get payed alot more then minimum wage, they deserve more! 0 -
Maybe that will take that no weapons sign down now huh? 0 -
thanks to you all, my lil gal is pretty self reliant.
at 5 she would come in covered with grease and tell mom she was "helping daddy"
at 8 or so she wanted to learn how to fight
age 11 she k.o.ed a 17 yr old brother of one of ther friends (after several warnings)
in h.s. she often fixed the b friends car cause he didnt have a clue!
she also does fairly well with stars and spikes, quarter staff and a knife. and although she waited till she was 22 to decide to try shooting sports, she is comeing along well in that also. she loves the little p64 and the a.k.
quite a handfull if some guy tries something she doesnt like! lol

no signs for customers, company policy for employees.[V]0 -
Glad she wasn't hurt.
Too bad we can't get claymore mines. One of those under the counter, pointing outward, behind a very thin panel, might be a good thing.0 -
I couldn't carry at my last job either. Did anyway. She probably should, that is a very dangerous job, especially night shift. 0 -
She might consider a day job. Mini markets at 1 AM are prime targets. I wouldn't be in any hurry to work one armed. I noticed many times that there are armed security or off duty Police Officers working at them. 0 -
edit. Glad your daughter is OK! [:)] 0 -

I like that idea.[:)][8D]0 -
THANK GOD SHE IS ALRIGHT!!!!
...Plus 1 on the Clays! Its a shame these places dont make it MANDITORY for the people working to take a lengthy course in crisis resolution and firearms training and PUBLICIZE THE HELL OUT OF IT! ... may very well make for less robberies, or least cleanse the gene pool of the really stupid robbers that would try anyway.
Fact is the business considers robbery loses just part of "doing business". In other words, they put their employees at risk and it's OK by them, its "only money".
W/O a certified GOOD training course I have to agree, it would not be a wise thing for most employees to be totin'...[;)]

i'm very glad your daughter is alright, and not hurt. 0 -
Talk about getting a "WAKE UP" call.......[:0]
She kept her cool enough to get a good description. "Though" about how she could take him out. Sounds like she had good teachers in her younger years. Good job mom and dad.
GLAD to hear she wasn't hurt, and that they caught the perp.0 -
Glad to hear everything turned out ok... 0 -
Glad to hear she is all right. That type of store should have two employees at night but most are too cheap to do that. I suppose she isn't allowed to give cops free drinks to encourage them to stop by either? I worked a gas station for two years third shift, kept the cops happy with slushies. Gave some security people coffee also when they came in with guns. Never had an incident as the cops were in the store every chance they could get. Place down the street got robbed though.
After they fired me, the cops stopped coming in as they knew that I was fired unjustly (I lowered the profits by having a 401k and pension and health plan), the place then got robbed.0 -
You can take a great deal of pride in Her - and yourselves.
Great job, Mom and Dad !!
I don't think I'd be wanting to send her back without a firearm, though.

Very glad she is well amigo! She needs a better job I think. 0 -
Give her a big hug from all of us and thank God she is safe and may the BG have Bubba in the cell with him. 0 -

oldemagics, glad your daughter is okay.0 -
Glad your daughter wasn't hurt. Small town, our local convenient store was robbed by a kid everyone knew, as a little punk. He had a rifle. There too the clerk kept her cool and handed over the money, however after the robbery some of the locals thought it was funny to come in and tell her to stickem' up. Poor girl had to put up with that nonsense for quite awhile. Cruel joke. 0
