BIG snake in Oklahoma
May be old news but, this incident http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=257751 reminder me of this e-mail I got from a friend not to long ago.
9 feet, 1 inch - 97 lbs. - found in Enid, Oklahoma.
This snake was recently found by the old Champlin Refinery just south of
WILLOW ROAD ON NORTH 30TH STREET!

A reminder that these creatures are actually out there and no matter what you believe,
Sometimes they should get not only prescriptive rights to be there but the full right of way!
9 feet, 1 inch - 97 lbs.
DEEP-FRIED RATTLESNAKE
1 medium-sized rattlesnake (3-4 lbs.), cut into steaks
1/2 cup flour
1/4 cup cornmeal
1/4 cup cracker crumbs
1/2 cup milk
1 egg
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (not garlic salt)
1 teaspoon salt
Dash pepper
Mix dry ingredients. Whisk milk into beaten egg and use to dip snake steaks.
Then coat them with dry ingredients. Fry, uncovered, in 400 degree oil until brown.
Yum,Yum! It sorta tastes like chicken.[:p]

Maybe his adrenaline was still pumping from having to get close enough to smash the rattlers face in[:)]0 -

this photo was posted long time ago and i am sure it was snoped as BS0 -
You guys are def. right. I never put it all together. This guy is holding it with no problem. 97 pounds? Even I would show some signs of struggle and I am over six foot and 200+ lbs.
Sorry for posting BS.
The length may be real, weight "myth busted"[;)]0 -
Snopes says False.
Thing gets around, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas.0 -
This has been around before and readers questioned the authenticity.
Has anyone done a Snopes on it?0 -

Length looks possible, but no way it weighs 97 lbs. 0 -
That's not the worlds biggest rattlesnake, but that is the worlds strongest snake wrangling midget. 0 -
Regardless if the length or wieght is right it is big enough to have me crapping my pants until Christmas if I saw it alive in the real world. 0 -

A LIVE 9' 1" 97 lb Rattlesnake would be worth at least a couple of thousand dollars probably a lot lot more. A Zoo would make a fortune on the increase of visitors to see a snake that big. 0 -
79lb. i doubt it....97lb,NO F'N WAY!![V] Why they gotta try to do us like'at?

Cute gal, but how is a guy supposed to compete when she's been handling something like that??? [:D]0 -
Snopes says even a 9 foot rattler would not weigh anywhere close to 97lbs. The snake is held close to the camera to make it appear larger. 0 -
i wonder if she likes boner-constricters. 0 -
