  I think Rosie understands that Mr. and Mrs. Middle America couldn't give a fat rat's behind whether she lives or dies, which is the death knell of any "entertainer's" career. So she's trying anything she can to remain on the public's radar. She's simply attempting to remain relevant to America, even if it's by pissing America off.
