rant: moving
packing and moving sucks. fifth or sixth time in less than three years, i lost count. and every time i think i wouldn't have to for a while, though i knew my last arrangement would be temporary, but what sucks even more i'll have to move in a few month after i arrive to my new destination, the things i have to look forward to are:
1. i'll be permanently out of california hell.
2. i'll be buying a house hopefully on some land.
3. i won't have to move for a while.
i guess these are good enough reasons to go through hell of moving couple of more times [:D]

I also got caught up in that moving game when a relationship fell apart a few years ago. Back together, apart again, a spirial into the divorce court. Its a drag!
But I too am out of California and very happy to be out of that over regulated, over crowed mass of cultures. The whole state of Oregon has less people than the San Francisco area. But it rains up here a lot and the "sunshine folks" can't deal with it for long and usually go back! yea!

[8D]-I've been in California for 61 of my 64 yrs, 23 yrs Navy, 10 yrs Subase (Ocean Engineering), 12 yrs law enforcement, owned a lot of real estate hunted-fished-dived a lot.
--About the only thing I can't do LEGALLY is personaly shoot a full auto or a mexican, not that I need to--
--There's relatively little that I can't do within 3 hrs of my home, I'm very comfortable financially and firearm/legal--I see no reason to leave--

dont worry. in due time, wherever you move to, the masses will be there right behind you. its what developers are banking on. you can run, but you cant hide. if your town has just one chain store, youre had. allthe others will come sooner or later.
you know youre in trouble when a hardies, home depot, mcdonalds, or lowes builds a store in the middle of nowhere. give it 5 years, a city will appear right next to it. they saw the plan before anyone else behind secret doors.[;)]0 -
oh it has happened already unfortunately. i hope my vote in CO will count for something, but it looks like denver, pueblo and boulder counties have been overrun with demlib cancer already [:(!]. they all are just like locust except in many cases they just stay there, but at least there's hope unlike CA. 0 -
I can't imagine moving nowdays, haven't done it for about 30yrs. One
can aquire a heap of worthless junk in that amount of time.[8D]
If I were to up and move, I believe I'd just have an auction and take

I know, I was born here, and , except for 4 years in the Navy and another couple in Wyoming, I've been right here in Rural Colorado.
I'm minutes away from hunting, fishing and any-damn-thing else I want to do.
Denver is a couple of hours away. But besides the occasional exhibit at the Art Museum, trip to the zoo or spending time with my brother (in 5-points), I never go there.0 -

My first stop is going to be Co Springs for a few months while looking for the perfect-ish location. Fortunately my job allows me to work from home and the only requirement there is to have a reliable internet connection. I was thinking checking out Woodland Park area or sticking around somewhere in Black Forest.0 -

I'm way up in the Northeast corner. Town called Sterling.
I was born 60 miles from here in Yuma, CO.
If you're looking to flee the crowds and mayhem, the Black Forest area might disappoint ya. It's all developed and Californicated. At least by my standards. I used to love to go to Douglas County as a youth, but things are different now.
I love the prairie. You can see your Friday evening dinner guests coming Tuesday morning. I mean it's that wide open.
A lot of folks don't like it here because it's not the Front Range, with all of the shopping, sports, and entertainment. And frankly, the more folks stay away, the happier I am.
You might want to get spanielsess' opinion on the Douglas County area, though. he lives closer than I do, plus he's all city-fied and housebroken, so he's undoubtedly got a more accurate take on the situation than a grumpy old loner like me.0
