When did you become Pro-gun ?

I was talking to a buddy of mine when the topics of guns came up. I was asked as to when was the first time that I realized I liked guns.

I had to think about this for a bit and then I realized. I was in high school in L.A. when I was assigned to do a report that was pro-gun(every student was assigned a different subject). Our sociology teacher asked me how I felt about guns, I said that guns were bad just seeing the shootings that had occured around the country in the 90's. So,he told me to do present a pro-gun report to the class while another student was to present an anti-gun report. The more I learned about the subject the more I realized I might be wrong about this. Once I turned 18 I went to the range on my own rented a gun and realized that guns aren't bad... matter of fact... I liked the experience..

so... what about you ?

    my whole live i have been pro-gun. i was raised on a farm in the country side with a family of hunters, i started hunting at age 6 and shooting earlier than that, with dads help. guns are only bad when in the wrong hands.

    I became Pro-Gun in the 2nd Grade. That is the first time that I can remember being introduced to the U.S. Constitution. The Bill of Rights was taught to me by a Teacher who understood the absolute meaning behind the Bill of Rights.

    Once I realized that it was my God Given right to bear arms, I have been a staunch supporter, or "Pro-GUN", of the U.S. Constitution.

    About 1954 (4 years old). As some one else has said, Dan'l Boone, Paladin, Gunsmoke, and I finally got to shoot a 22! I was, and remain, hooked[:)]

    Can never remember when we did not have a loaded gun in the house. I was given my first (22 rifle) at age 7. Have never been without one (or more) since.

    I was taken by a buddy to hunt birds for the first time when I was 15.
    Shot a few quail and was hooked on guns ever since!

    I think I was born that way... It actually is the reason that I moved to the US, had a chance to spend a few years working in Mexico but didn't take it, moved to Europe and came back here and did the final move -- from socialist-democrat CA to more or less sane CO. Go figure...

    It's been a gradual experience. I've always had a natural conservative view of Constitution and Bill of Rights, but never pursued owning anything until the last few years.

    I grew up on a farm about 10 miles down a dirt road. Law enforcement was one sheriff and one deputy for the entire county. One afternoon my dad was in the fields working when a drunk came up to the house demanding money. My mother brought out the old 16 guage double barrell and fired a round into the ground, the drunk took off. I was about 4 years old. I realized at that yound age that a gun was an equalizer. I got my CC at age 21, never been without an equalizer (handgun)since. Got my .22 at age 9, shotgun at 14.
    My mother is now 87, still has a Charter Arms .38.

    When I was eight years old and I got my first rifle. I loved it, and still shoot it on occasion. It pleased me that it pissed my mom off so much. [}:)]

    Couldn't say, i grew up around guns. My father was a history teacher who believes strongly in the constitution. He wasn't much of a hunter, but that was by choice. He did encourage his kids to take an interest. But if we didn't want to he didn't force it upon us. Now when we get together as a family, the first activity planned is when do we hit the range. A family that shoots together stays together.

    I grew up in the south and therefore I have been raised around guns and responsible gunowners so I have always been comfortable with them. As far as being pro second amendment I have been a fan of the Constitution of the United States from when i was old enough to understand what it meant.

    I was always pretty destructive and was out at my uncle's a few times and he shoots and hunts a lot. Got my first .22 when I was 14 and never turned back.

    Probably was born that way and started shooting at six of seven years old. At first it was a BB gun with my dad and brother. And it just keeps getting better. But my all time favourite is still plinking with a .22! [:D]

    the day my Grandpa gave me that old single shot .410 with all those stories about actually putting food on the table with the thing when he was only 8. that gun to me represents what firearms used to mean to people, he always looked at it as a tool, not a weapon.

    I've always been pro gun. Loved the toy cap guns when I was a kid and shot .22 rifles in boy scout camp when I was a teen.[;)]
    Came in 2nd place out of 150 scouts at summer camp.[:p]

    I grew up in the gun-culture. Earliest memories were of my Dad, Great-Grandad and my PaPa having guns in their house, using them around the farm and, in PaPa's case, having well over 100 of them stacked all around his house. Was taught to respect them right off and then to use them responsibly. By 10 or so, I had a .22 rifle and was allowed to run the woods with it, a pocket full of shells and my dog.[^]
