I think I'll get my nail done Update
I was packaging up a barrel for a guy who was nice enough to send it to me free thinking that the chamber had had a meltdown. Got it all buttoned up and figured that the friendly bureaucrats at the USPS would have something to say about the Fedex labels on the cardboard I used. No biggie, I just scored around the labels with my razor knife and started pulling them off. Big mistake not putting the knife down first.
Slipped and cut my left thumbnail almost in half. Barely cut my thumb. I'm thinking about having an acrylic nail put on for the next two months while it grows out, either that or a DIY job with superglue and architect's linen.
Got lucky, really, hardly even hurts now and should be fine in a couple days but the thought of catching it on something gives me an ill feeling. It could have been a radial artery.
UPDATE:
I got back and picked up a $3 tube of superglue. Funny, at a hobby shop you get a couple ounces for $5. Cut up a couple small squares of gauze, cleaned the nail well after looking for any signs of infection and lightly sanded it as a prep for a layup of cotton and cyanoacrylic.
The nail is now about 2 mm thick and looks inhuman. I can, however, smack it with the handle of a butterknife without undue pain. There is a cut on the tip of my thumb that I didn't notice last night. I'm lucky I wasn't looking at half my nail and some of the tip of my thumb on the floor. I might have tried to paste that back on had that happened. Not that I hate the doctor's but I do hate spending $ on something that will heal by itself.
Talk about falling into the outhouse and coming out smelling like a rose.

Sorry to hear about your accident. Next time take a Sharpie and line through everything. That's what I do. Hundred's of repackaged packages and no cuts.[8D][8D][8D][8D] 0 -

If you give it a good whack with a 28 OZ. waffle head framing hammer you might get some "due" pain if that is what you are looking for. [:D][:D]0 -

I used to use a framing hammer for roofing, nevermore.0
