FWIW, we bought a 2006 Commander in January.

    No complaints, no problems.

    None.

    Great rig.

Kinda goofy looking, but great rig.

Sorry, underpowered for such a big (long) jeep. Not really a jeep with that long of wheelbase and it needs a v8 IMO.

Ive heard that the soft/hard top configuration is a little goofy, but can be used like a bikini or a safari top. The wheelbase is only 20 inches longer so the rear doors does not make easy access for adults and gives little leg room. In my opinion a suicide door configuration with fold and tumble seats could make for easier entry/exit of the back seat. And its available in 2 wheel drive?

As for the pros, attractive looks, the longer wheelbase gives a nicer ride and the electronic roll mitigation is a nice feature. Electronic front sway bar disconnect is a nice option as well.

As a long time Jeep owner, I have looked at them, but won't take the plunge for another year or so. I kinda agree that they are a little underpowered, but what really gets me is that they are WAY undertorqued! They really need to put the straight six back in them! The v-6 runs smoother and quieter, but it just doesn't have the balls the old 6 did. The back doors kind of remind me of the back doors in the Cherokee. Hard has heck to squeeze into, but sure are nice when you need that little bit of extra room. The back seat actually isn't too bad. Love the top though, and all the different configurations. They got that right!

We were basically looking at it as a family vehicle. Two adults in the front, 2 baby seats in the back and a dog in the way back. I'll have to go to the dealer and try one on for size.
