Going out to dinner and then to see LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA. Will review and critique when I get back.

  I didn't either. Too "chopped" up for me to follow real well. As they say...the book is MUCH better!

  Okay, this one is better than FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS. Starts out with Jap preparations prior to the assault. Uniforms and equipment first rate. Weapons superb, even unique sounds associated with individual weapons. Jap Type 96/99 heavy machine gun sounds like a woodpecker, M1 Garand clips twanging all over the place.
  Battle scenes realistic looking.
  Americans pretty much kept in the shadows except for one prisoner captured giving the enemy a face. It's a good one to the Japanese. Only once do Americans flub when they shoot two Japanese prisoners out of hand.
  
  Japanese know the final score before the battle even starts and it's either a tribute to their culture or a knock to their common sense as to the message of the movie. Your choice.
  
  I was pretty impressed with the overall movie and will probably buy the DVD when it comes out.

  Watched Flags of our Fathes last night...no where near as good as I thought it was going to be. I too thought they jumbled it up too much.
