I really cannot figure out why people still use that term.......
Unless they are describing an ACTUAL select fire, full auto etc.. "assualt weapon"

I got an email back from them. A bunch of gibberish about a 1763 Charleville musket being an assault weapon. I reminded her that the term was a rallying point for the Brady group and other anti-2A activists.

I whonked me brother over the head with a rabbit three times yesterday. That make him(or her) an assault weapon?

    Thats nothing.
I was searching Hawaii gun laws and they have semi auto pistols listed as Assault Pistols in their state law.[xx(]

Those terms play well with the uneducated emotional crowd. Cop Killer Bullets, Black Rifles, etc.

Most city, state officials have little knowledge of firearms and the media theme names are picked up quickly and printed as fact. It would be funny if it wasn't so serious.[:(]

OK, I just don't see the point of helping the gun grabbers out.

I agree with you MVP. Assault is an action. A pencil can be an "Assault Weapon".

I correct my in-laws everyday about that term...and they are pro-gun. They've just heard it so much they repeat it now!!!
