Price of crude has been climbing and there's been some supply problems in the US, particularly with a Valero petroleum plant suffering an explosion last week.

Back up to $2.47 in parts of New York, but then again gas never went lower than $2.30 in this area. Last years high was $3,50

It's either because of rising petrolium prices, or some rich CEOs lining their pockets some more.

the president of Exxon-Mobil is no longer happy being flown around in LAST YEAR's model Lear Jet [:o)]

Not really, it's just that the same major players in the oil market inventing reasons that the supply should drop.

It's at $2.39/9 in south-central Minnesota. It went up 14 cents overnight a few days ago. Looks like another record-setting quarter for big oil.[xx(]

Crude oil has bounced around from down around $48 per 42 gallon barrel, to up above $61 per barrel over the last couple of months. That's about a $.30 per gallon swing in the price of crude, and though it doesn't all become gas or diesel, that kind of a price rise affects all oil products.

A colder than predicted February and OPEC talk about production cuts are two of several reasons why the speculators are back watching and moving the markets. Commodities prices on the Chicago Board of Trade on corn and soybeans are moving in just about the same manner, and probably for some of the same reasons.[:)]

Yeah, I've noticed that reg unl. has risen an average of $.11/gal per week for the past 4 weeks.
By golly, the Dems really got to the bottom of the story about soaring gas prices, just like they said they would! *LOL*[}:)]

price volatility is going to be the name of the game from now until the endgame of permanent energy crisis because american conventional production peaked in the 1970s and worldwide conventional peaked in 2005

Some of the refinerys have shut down, to retrofit, do new E.P.A laws on diesel fuel.Mostly a California problem. The price of crude went up.Some refinerys always have problems when the price of gas is to low.

I heard on the news not too long ago (when prices were cheap) that a lot of refineries would be shutting down temporarily for scheduled maintenance soon, which could be now. The impact it would cause, was unknown. I guess we know now. A month ago, we were at 1.97. Now, 2.45 is common. For the cheap stuff.
